D&D General D&D 2024 does not deserve to succeed

Then the are an anti-hero for the duration of the scenario.

Is someone that is anti-social transformed into being social because they are forced to go to a party? Being forced to do something doesn't change who you are.

I don't really understand why this is an issue. Play a hero, villain, anti-hero, an anthropomorphic platypus. Why does it matter? Personally I don't care for anti-heroes in games or in entertainment at all for that matter. But I have no problem with people playing what and how they want. D&D doesn't enforce some golden age superhero expectations, it's just a tool to make campaigns.

How about if you are running an evil campaign, and decide to run this scenario with the villainous PCs forced to help society by fighting the giants?

Or an open table game like Gary talks about in the 1E DMG where characters may be of a variety of alignments and team up at different times (subject, of course, to the restrictions on association with evil alignments listed in the classes like Paladin and Ranger), and one or more of the PCs going on this mission happen to be evil?

Oof. Took a deeper look at DC20 and… it seems like there’s a lot of point tracking and lots of decision points (Mana points, action points, etc., etc., and how those points are used etc., etc.,) that would just slow down my groups turns. I can see where it would add flexibility, but I’m not seeing where it adds to game play FOR MY GROUP.
Slow down your group's turns? Unless you've somehow cut 5e's mechanics to the bone this makes me wonder if you've played 5e at all. By introducing just a few complications, a 5e combat turn turns into a godawful slog.
As a side note, people really need to stop writing in all caps for emphasis. It adds no emphasis and makes the writer look stupid.

So the comment you're responding to is that the DC20 changes have the potential to take 5E turns and make them even longer. Not sure how your response contributes to a discussion of that opinion.

Slower does not necessarily mean slow. It just means slower. So, for example, a jet going from Mach 2 to Mach 1 is still fast. But it did slow down.

Therefore: Looks like it would make my groups turns go slower.
"Now we've taken this theory one stage further. If we increase the size of the penguin until it is the same height as the man and then compare the relative brain sizes, we now find that the penguin's brain is still smaller. But - and this is the point - it is larger than it was."
