[D&D 3.5/Eberron] Forgotten Forge [Full]

Wow. Looks like the party is going to have a whole lota offensive power. Expect something from me soon, either later tonight or early tommorow.

I'm shooting for a Psion telepath/healer (no real offense), and the Soulknife is an alternate. We're not *that* loaded with offense yet. A Druid would be good, especially since Psions can't heal others until level 3; you could focus on Cure spells and use them as Summon spells as needed, giving us extra offense or healing depending on the situation.

Okay, tentatively I'm going for a Human Psion (Telepath) with the following:

ATTRIBUTES
STR: 8
DEX: 13
INT: 15
WIS: 12
CON: 10
CHR: 14

FEATS
Psionic Body
Psionic Endowment
Greater Psionic Endowment

POWERS
Charm, Psionic
Mind Thrust
Mindlink

Obviously intended to be the brains and speaker of the party. Come 5th level I plan to branch out into healing; unfortunately I can't do it any sooner than that. I *really* resent the lack of a decent healer class that doesn't come saddled with god/nature worship overtones.

Knowing this might help the rest of you in designing your characters, if you're shooting for a balanced party. No alignment or backstory yet, as I wasn't able to find anything detailed on WotC's website about Eberron (I still don't even know what the new class/races are like). I'll take another look later, but I might need some help with this.

I might play with the attributes a little, putting the 10 in DEX so I can give the 12 and 13 to CON and WIS; feel free to weigh in on the subject. Also, for some reason I'm very tempted to make this a female character...

Krug: No worries. :) I'll take you as an alternate, certainly, and we'll worry about it when it becomes an issue.

IdentityCrisis: I can post a brief summary of the four new races and the one new class later tonight/sometime tomorrow for you.

No Way: Let me look at the books later tonight, and I'll get back to you on that question.

Apologies for the hit and run posting, but it's my mother's birthday tonight, and I have to go have dinner with her and my step-father, so I'll catch you all on the flipside. :)

Best,
Nick

Identity Crisis, I've got a bit of posted and available info about warforged and shifters, I've not really been interested enough in changelings and Kalashtar (sp?) to try and hunt down info.

If you give me your email i'll send you the relevant info, I've aloso got some limited info on the dragonmarked houses.

oh and as for my backup character I'll either be a warforged fighter/barb (juggernaught route, hehehehe), shifter soulknife or possibly a half-elf druid (non-affiliated due to my total lack of ECS-fu) seeing as we need a bit of healing and divine might.

Before I do equipment, how do you want me to handle crafting? Should I make a Use Magic Device check for crafting? Autopass them?

You mean for equipment that you've made before the game starts? If so, then we'll assume that whatever items you have are the items that you've made successfully, so, yes, you'll automatically pass these checks.

Best,
Nick

I'm assuming that you've looked at the Eberron page and not found much helpful there -- Ashy has posted two useful links. You may want to check them out. Also, if Sidekick can send you stuff, that's cool with me. The basic gist of the new stuff is this:
  • Artificer: A "spellcaster" that specializes in building and creating magic items and constructs. [Spellcaster's in quotes because they aren't properly spellcasters in the sense a cleric or wizard are, but it's good for general purposes.
  • Changeling: A race of shapechangers. Can change into one other shape as if using a disguise self spell.
  • Kalashtar: A "compound race [made up of] incorporeal entities from the realm of Dal Quor...merged with human bodies and spirits." Designed as a psionic race.
  • Shifters: A race of minor lycanthropes (were-touched).
  • Warforged: A race of constructs created for use in the Last War.
Hope this helps. Let me know if you need more information.

Best,
Nick

Sounds fine to me. This would lead us to a group that looks something like this:

1. Rawhide, Male Shifter Brb1 (Ashy)
2. Thrasen Horascon, Male Halfling Art1 (No Way)
3. Human Psi(Telepath)1 (IdentityCrisis)
4. Human or Warforged Wiz1 (Knight Otu)
1a. Shifter Soulknife 1, Warforged Ftr/Brb, or Half-Elven Drd1 (Sidekick)
2a. -- (Krug)

That's a really interesting foursome. :) Actually could be a lot of fun with that group.

Best,
Nick
