[D&D 3.5] Paths of Legend: Paths of Madness (OOC)

So no preferences then, Either would be good?

Hmm.. I just had a thought... Why not do both? Background'll be posted up soon but I wanted to post the class breakdown to make sure it's ok with you.

Tentative thought: Human Paragon3/Sorc1/Monk1/Wild Mage1.
The reason I ask first is b/c many DM's see multiclassing and think twink.

ethandrew, ah, that would be why I've never heard of it. ;) Complete Mage is not on the allowed books list (because Monkey doesn't own it).

Shayuri, do you remember the info I gave you about Warlocks when you first expressed interest in the Azgundi Tournaments? That info still applies. ;) Should be in the first couple of pages of the Tournaments OOC thread. Psionics are still relatively unknown in the world at large and Thay is only now starting to figure out the differences. They dislike them on principle but haven't figured out a way to easily detect them, yet.

Jemal, Human Paragon you say? Hehehe :]

[sblock=For Jemal, regarding Human Paragons]Paragons in this setting are the creations of the Rakshasa who, up until the Shadow War when they were mostly destroyed, manipulated events in the world for their own twisted desires. Human Paragons were specifically created in Thay, magically engineered to be the ultimate soldiers and tools for the Red Wizards. However, a rebellious element was introduced into the Paragons by the Rakshasa known as the Unseen Assassin and they have proven too powerful to control. The Red Wizards have tried to find them all and put them down, but many of them have fled to other lands, building their power bases, with the intent of returning and overthrowing the Red Wizard government.[/sblock]

Monkey, I'm considering the possibility of the Ghostly Grasp feat from Libris Mortis. It raises some odd issues though; issues that don't seem to have been addressed in various WotC errata and FAQs. If an incorporeal undead can use corporeal objects, but doesn't have a strength score, how can it's encumbrance be determined? Can carried objects go through barriers like the undead itself? Just wondering what your impression of the feat is...

We'll treat the incorporeal creature's Strength score as 10 (no bonuses, no penalties) and the item in question will not pass through solid objects unless the object has the ghost touch property.

Hmm, so I'm a renegade paragon soldier who also happens to exhibit Sorcerous powers and a tendency towards chaos-magic? Dayum these guys gonna hate me! So, any problems with the rampant multiclassing or should I start on the char? (I'm still pondering dropping the monk and just gonig witht he sorc/wildmage/paragon actually...)

I'm getting a fairly good picture together of the personality and how anti-governmental this character is gonna be. :D
This gon' be fun.[/sblock]

I have no problem with mega-multiclassed characters as long as you can justify it in the background. ;)

Monks, for example, learn their abilities from the ex-slave Djihon so if you're not an ex-slave Djihon you'll need to have spent some time with them to learn Monk class abilities.

hmm, considering that (And the fact that monk/mage combos don't work so well until a bit higher level), I think I'll skip the monk part and just go with a full-on mage type. Anywyas, gone for Fondue and Movies now. May have time to post background later tonight. If not, then tommorow after work.

Looking at Savage Species page 28, the Minotaur is a fine, balanced monster to play, that will alter be able to go the route i would have taken any way - Reaping Mauler, and a devastating grappler to aid the party! I am really happy with the way the Minotaur progression looks in the SS book, let me know if you will change things, because in that case i might decide to go with something else. I like that it gets fighter BAB, two good saves, good ability bonuses and Large size.

Story: He is a young but already developed representative of his race, that has been captured by slavers several years ago, after he had roamed out of his clan's underground labyrinth in search of adventure in the world above.

He had spent some time being displayed as a curiosity in a traveling menagerie, but was later sold to a gladiator arena in Thay. There, he fought unarmed most of the time, due to the tendancy of nobles paying the arena master to enter staged fights and "win" against inexperienced monsters that lack equipment.

Just prior to the start of the adventure, however, a young nobleborn lad had decided to face the Minotaur with nothing but a rapier and leather armor, and prove his worth to a lady in the audience. Things did not turn out so well, when the young human lost the grip on his weapon as he stuck it in the thick muscular arm of his attacker, and was promptly impaled trough the eye on the minotaur's horn, and then torn apart in a guresome display of battle rage and strength. The victorious gladiator was quickly subdued and almost beaten to death, after which he was sent to await his execution in the prison.
