Tom:
I'm having problems with 3E. The rules are lessening my enjoyment of the game.

ENBoards:
The problem is with you, not the system. Take a break from DMing.

:D

So that would be ONE person, I believe. Who took the accusation back in their very next post to this thread.

Thanks, roun - "Inflammatory" - ser. :D

Oh, and the DC to climb an angry Cloud Giant is 25, assuming that it's clothed, and climbing someone draws an attack of opportunity.

Ah, but what if the Cloud Giant just got out of the bath and was wet and soapy? And how much damage would a swipe from his back scrubber do? Or using his soap-on-a-rope as a flail, for that matter? Thrown giant rubber ducky? Towel-flick of the titans?

Maybe we should take these hard-hitting questions to the rules forum!

Well then, clearly he's not clothed. And um, well, let's not say anymore about climbing nude, soapy, wet Cloud Giants, alright?

Are these items listed in Arms & Equipment? I mean, unless there's OFFICIAL 3E stats for these items, I don't know how to use them. I can't just make things up, I'm a 3rd Edition DM!

:D

Yeah, I think 3E has little to do with hampering an overly active imagination with regard to climbing wet, hot, soapy nude giants...

Fear not, no doubt a d20 publisher will be releasing the Slayer's Guide to Bathtime Fun any year now...

I don't know if 3e is killing imagination for DMs, but creating stat blocks now takes a lot of time away from developing plot lines and interesting characters, in my opinion.

Sometimes, I wish I could just put the AC, hp, attack, and damage on some NPCs, but the rules necessitate full stat blocks. If I don't, then I feel like I may be leaving some needed information out or depriving the NPC of fleshing out. So, the rules can be very dictatorial from my experience.

Overall though, I think 3e is really great because it provides a scientific reasoning for nearly everything in the game. The rules provide *tools* for creation and play that I've found very helpful. It can be cumbersome, too, but most of it makes *sense* and helps the game move along. :)

I also wanted to say that I find it HIGHLY annoying that anytime someone complains about D&D, 3e, or WoTC, a bunch of people jump out and start flinging accusations of troll this and troll that. It seems very fascist and mob-like to me.

Since when was it wrong to complain about something? Complaints bring improvement. If nobody complained, then there would be no progress in the world. So, stop whining like a little baby about trolls because most likely you are the "troll".

So.. you are calling people facists for complaining about complaining? Right..

So what are you for complaining about people complaining about those complaining?

That is a sad view of the world. Rugged individualism and the personal struggle for enhancement brings about improvement. Complaints and whining bring about nothing but noise.

Sir Edgar and Sagan, I think you're both right, and you're both wrong...the truth (TM) is somewhere in the middle.

Unfortunately, arguing shades of grey is less sexy than arguing black or white. :)
