I realized after posting that the monster builder update thread may not be the best place to notify everyone about the CM update.

Thanks to DarkSir from the RPG.net boards, the D&D 4e combat tracker has been updated to accept the new statblock format.

The only error I've found is it doesn't always grab the recharge options, but that's pretty easy to fix when it pops up.

I just wanted to add that I've been using this tool with my Burning Sky campaign, and I'm a huge fan. It pretty much does everything I could want in a combat management app. If you haven't checked it out, I highly recommend it.

I've imported a few monsters from the new statblock, and they have all worked for me.

If only I could convince those folks who've been running Burning Sky to take on the project of creating all the monsters in Adventure Tools so I could import them here... that would be fantastic.

Looks nifty. I am unsure it's something I could use quickly at the table though. Curious question for Steve... is someone delegated to managing the combat tracker or does the DM handle it all? Seems like it would be a huge distraction for someone like me.

I'll pitch in an answer too: the tracker, assuming you use DDI or input monster data yourself, could have info you dont want the delegated player to have access to. The good side is that you can shelve the Monster manuals except for pictures and fluff. It will track combat as well having all the mechanics of the monster there for you in easy reach and in initiative order.

Good luck

Oh I'm sure you can. Use it for initiative rolling/sequence, keeping track of monster hps, easy reference to monster blocks and PC defenses your game will be revolutionised.

I love this program and was very happy to see that Darksir had updated it. I use it on a laptop at the table and it has sped up combat and helped me remember conditions so much. I would hate to see it fade away.

The issue with the recharge options could be a Monster Editor problem. They released it chock full of bugs when editing a monster. They don't seem to be in much of a hurry to fix them either.

Pretty Good Too

Hey, I like some of the things in your CM. Check out my DMHelper Home - CodeWarrior Malo's Home I created this for me because I needed help keeping track of who's turn it was and other things like that. I am currently working on a huge update and should have a new version posted by the end of this month. I am also working on a DM Screen and Mapping Tool as well.

Cheers,

I use the tracker myself, but my players like to have a visual image of the turn order, so I also have one of them with a whiteboard.

Once I committed to using the software, I found that it makes my games run much more accurately. One of the really neat things you can use it for is to track statuses on different targets, so I find I no longer forget about penalties or to take that ongoing damage for instance. It will roll saves and recharges as well, although it gives you the ability to override those results. Did orc #3 use his once per encounter heal power? Now you'll know for 100% certain.

If you feel like you're being distracted, try having a player use another system to track the whole combat and simply use the system to track your monsters. I think you'll find it speeds things up considerably.
