[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

Sahyr saw the goblin rise and attack the clothwearing Pier, who did not seem to be much of a fighter. Snarling once more at the cowardly conduct, he sidesteps from his prime target, his blade lashing towards the cowardly goblin. As he felt a surge of vitality return to him. A gift from Kord, surely.

"GOBBO SCUM!" He howled as his blade made for the goblin.

1d20+7=27, 1d12+4=6 Ooo... a critical. ~looks up 4E's critical rules~ It appears I roll 1[w] again, and the original damage is maximized? 1d12+4=10 Another 10, or 6 if my str modifier doesn't apply. Total 26 or 22 points of damage on W2[/sblock]

[sblock=OOC]Sorry for the overdue update. I'm not sure what I thought I was waiting on...[/sblock]

Jude makes his wat to the fallen Aridha. As he treats her wounds, the elf seems to respond. *1

Druthruss charges at the last of the smaller goblins and cuts it down without hesitation. He's barely able to snatch up the wizard and toss him to the side before the fire engulfs him. *2

Vatan acts as a human barrier between the bugbear and his friends; he opens up an impressive gash in the bugeabr while doing it. *3

With a great roar, Sahyr blasts the bugbear with his sword, finally dropping the brute. *4

Pier still lies unconscious as the ship continues to burn. Though the battle is won, the ship is lost. The captain's men begin to jump overboard into the chilled waters of the Crescent River. Captain Winebourne begs of you to do the same, for he will not leave the ship himself until every hand safely overboard.

[Combat is over, no map needed]

*1 Aridha heals 6 hp
*2 Druthruss kills W2 and saves the wizard from burning
*3 19 vs. AC hits, and deals 12 damage to the bugbear
*4 Sahyr heals 6 damage; changed target to bugbear since Druthruss killed W2; now the bugbear is dead

Jude helps Aridha to her feet "Are you ok to swim?" he whispers in elven. Assuming she is, the human straps his shield to his back and ties down his sword. Into the icy water Jude goes.

Vatan will quickly run over to the gobbo caster and try to throw him as close to the shore as he can, then look to see if any one can use any help. Seeing the dwarf struggling with Pier, he will head over to there. "Druthruss, can ye swim? I don't know how much time we be havin' afore the boat be full aflame! I can drop him down to ye and we can try to work on him ashore."

He will also be securing his kit about him as he is talking.

Athletics 1d20+8 = 24 to swim ('cause we will have to soon)

Vatan has no intention of leaving this boat while one of "his crew" are still aboard the burning ship. If it means being the second to last off, so be it.

Druthruss will drag Pier to the middle of the boat farthest from the flames. Then with the axe in other hand will fling it to a safe part on the shore. Whilst removing his pack & stow the most breakable items he says "Well normally id be alright but this pack s'gonna be like oldkin Galdorins iron boots if the waters deep." before hurling that to the shore as well. "Right, you pass him down and i'll grab him." then clamboring quite agilely over the side, he wades into the water hoping the footing is not too soft or deep.

[sblock]Let me know what rolls all of that will entail[/sblock]

As the last of his enemies fell, Sahyr basked in the glory of the carnage, howling to the skies as he hefted his massive sword in victory. During his victory elation, the approaching flames only heightened the adrenaline the Shifter felt of victory, and he only realized the true danger the flames posed once he noticed the majority of his companions leaping from the burning ship.

Deciding that glorious battles awaited him with this group, the Cleric lept off as, but not before sheathing his massive weapon.

Lemme know what rolls are required, IG[/sblock]

Captain Winebourne and eleven of his men, along with Druthruss, Jude, Aridha, Sahyr, Vatan, and the unconscious Pier, all make it to the relative safety of the shore as yet another burning ship sails the Crescent of its own accord.

The captain and his men only look on in hopeless defeat, their very livelihood turning to embers under the light of the moon.

As the ship slowly succumbs to the flame, Vatan will Raise his sword in salute, to both the ship and its fallen crew. He will then turn to the Captain and say "Captain, I am sorry that we failed in our duty to you and your ship. There shall be a reckoning and the Gobbos will pay a price for your ship and crew. I tossed their spell caster ashore somewhere and it may be that he be carrying something to show where they be. Or what they be plannin'. I am off to find that scurvy carcass."

He will then go off to search for the body, being as stealthy as he can.
