[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

Pier's attention is drawn by the orc leader's taunts. Without hesitation, he draws his dagger from its sheath at his waist and slices the shape of his fire rune before him, calling a gout of flame from the earth in the midst of the orcs.

Vatan will raise his bow and fire at what looks to be the biggest threat (the brute at I8 will do unless there is an obvious caster). He will then drop the bow down along the wall and draw both sword and dagger, then wait for them to come.

"Come, ye scurvy dogs! Taste the steel of someone ready to fight, ye pox ridden cowards, ye have much to pay for!!!" is Vatan's reply to the "leader".

Nice hit...too bad it hit the wall behind the target :/

Jude marches forward confidently, his bastard sword held at the ready as he moves next to the closest for. "Prepare for your justice, orc" he spats as the warrior slashes hard at his foe and with surprising grace, nimbly steps away and then stabs at the other orcnext to him.

Upon seeing Jude march forward, Vatan will mutter under his breath as he follows suit, moving to J8 ready to dodge the big axe.

[SBLOCK]Not sure what happened to my camp circle reccy but I guess I returned to the group still with my hand crossbow.[/SBLOCK]

Druthruss will dash to M10 and get behind the wall for some cover and aims to shoot at any orc which is still in the open. Unfortunately his crossbow misfires badly sending the bold arcing wildly away overhead. "What kind of infernal goblin made device is this thing ?". He ducks back and busies himself with fitting a new bolt to it.

[SBLOCK]Rolled a 1 ![/SBLOCK]

Aridha hears the commotion outside and her hackles rise as a growl comes unbidden to her jaws. With effort she represses her canine instincts and watches the doorway to the cover she's taken. Ideally, she thinks, the orcs front line will pass by, leaving an opening for me to go after their spellcasters or archers...

(Aridha chooses to wait, hoping that the orcs will bypass her and leave their rear flank vulnerable.)

[sblock=OOC]I was almost finished posting this update when I realized I had made a critical error in moving a PC that shouldn't have been moved. It sound like something that should have been simple to fix, but then it went all butterfly-effect on me when I tried to backtrack it and change the orcs' moves accordingly.

Needless to say, I'm going to go outside and scream now, and then come back and work on this again. Hopefully I'll have it up sometime tonight.

Druthruss takes cover behind a wall and fires his crossbow. The shot goes wide of its mark, and the proud dwarf is quick to blame the craftsmanship rather than his own aim.

Jude moves forward, and in a well-practiced dance slashes at two of the orcs, opening large, bleeding gashes in both of them.

Aridha, still in her wolf form, lies in wait behind the crumbling wall of a nearby building.

Pier traces an arcane symbol in the air, and a fountain of fire erupts from the ground in the midst of the orcs. Amazingly, only one of them seems to have been affected by the blast.

Vatan shoots an arrow at the largest of the orcs, but also misses. He curses the orcs as he drops his bow, draws his blades, and moves toward the orcs.

Two of the orcs each produce a ball of bound twigs and pitch, and toss them onto the battlefield. The first lands between Pier and Druthruss, and explodes on impact. The dwarf is able to protect himself from most of the blast, but Pier isn't as lucky.*

The second cinderbomb lands directly behind Vatan and causes infinitely more damage. Druthruss is again hit, and this time feels the full force of the blast. Vatan too feels the heat as the embers cling to his skin and clothing, as well as to the bruthish orc facing him. Aridha, however, is shaken the most as the directionality of the blast seemed to seek her out through the rubble filled room. It is no secret to her now as to what caused the destruction in these buildings.**

The axe-wielding orc howls as the burning embers cling to his skin. His muscles tense and his lips snarl as he brings rears his greataxe and brings it down again in a furious swipe at Vatan.***

The orc in the back points a gnarled finder at Jude. A thick, swirling cloud of filth rises up around him, penetrating his every pore.****

...the proud dwarf is quick to blame the craftsmanship rather than his own aim.
Damn straight LOL! If he had hit him square between the eyes he would have claimed dwarven marksmanship in spite of the inferior craftsmanship ;)[/SBLOCK]

[SBLOCK]Aww heck were in trouble again. 64pts of fireball dam in first round ![/SBLOCK]

Druthruss feeling like a fleet of dragons just dropped in realizes that this cover ain't no cover at all. Still smoldering he grits his teeth and numbs his mind to the pain then sets off at a dash to K8. He tries to patch up Vatan and swaps weapons to his axe.

[SBLOCK]Std: Heal chk 1d20+3=4 (BAH! FFS WERE ALL GONNA DIIIEEEE!!!)[/SBLOCK]
