[D&D 4e] IG's "The Witchlight Strand"

"Aye, friend Dwarf, If there be relief comin' I would be agreein' 'bout stayin' put. Be that as it may, we be short on supplies an' be not knowin' if there be people comin'. An idea of what be out there would help make that decision. I for one be not likin' the thought of bein' holed up like trapped rats if there be but a few o' tha scum about." Vatan will face Deson and again ask about a map. "Mi'Lord, ye ken this town better than we. Do ye have thoughts on where they may be, and a route to that may best avoid them and still allow us to find where they be?"

Sahyr frowned slightly, pacing. "If we're going to fight... we should go and fight. If we're going to wait, then we should make this tavern an impenetrable fortress and tear them apart one by one, catching them right when they think they've got the initiative!" He grumbled, not liking standing about without action while anticipating it. Patience was not a trait Kord had taken much time to instill in Sahyr. He was rather busy planting the love of a good martial challenge.

Deeson Voss unfurls a map on a large table. "Stay or go. Each choice has merit, and you'll have my support either way."

After asking Master Voss for some clarification of the building on the map (ie: the 6 noted building as being those that survived and may be of interest) Vatan will state "Mithinks that yon scurvy dogs be lookin' fer Drink, Plunder an' Food. An' in that' order. If they be holed up somewheres, me thinks it be either tha' vineyard or grange. Any plunder they be findin' they be bringin' ta where they be bunkin'. Me think we should rest till morn and go check yon places out in the light of day. The grange first and see if there be any food we can be bringing back." He will then turn to the others. "What say you?"

Pier enters the common room at the tail end of the conversation, on his way to check the barricades. "You two should get some rest before charging into battle again. These folk have been here four days already. A few more hours will make little difference to the orcs. Besides, I'd rather fight those vermin in daylight." He roots around in the firewood for a slender, relatively straight branch, then moves off to examine the fortifications.

"I think Pier has it right this time. Maybe we should go and take the fight to them but we need to rest up first or else Jude will have some company in the stars. I don't think we will have O'Beth this time so if we all go we would still be a man down on where we were at and we didn't do well even then. As a group we can take on about 4 orcs comfortably but we might run into 40 out there. If were gonna do this then we need less blundering about getting ambushed. Pier is right too that they see better than men in the dark - we should go on the morn of tomorrow and we should all go or not go and i'll come, of course, if we all are."

"Deson, you wouldn't have a grapnel around here would you ? If were going to buildings then its likely that they would have barricaded them on the ground floor too and we might be needing to get in through a window or the roof."

Druthruss would like to copy that map down if possible and replenish common items like water etc.

Vatan will chuckle a bit at Pier's comments. "Aye, friend Mage, that be what me tinkin' too. The morn be early enough for a scoutabout. Just after dawn methinks. Hopefully they be a wee bit inta their cups by then an' in poor shape for a proper fight." Vatan will then turn to Voss "Like me friend be sayin' we be a sword or two from what we be before our tussles today. Be there any here abouts that be able to swing one, or even use a bow with some skill? I wish not to go with a large troop, but another sword or bow would no go amiss methinks. I would like to do us a scout, an' avoid any fights til we ken their numbers."
