I could make some snarky comment about gamer guys, bathing regularly and what a diet of cheetos and Mountain Dew will do to you over 25 years, but you know, that would be just as stereoptyped and annoying. So let's pretend I didn't.

Back to the topic at hand and the OP- It's awesome that you have found an RPG you can play with your SO! I've had a lot of fun playing RPG's with my husband and friends over the years. We've played AD&D, Paranoia, Champions, Shadowrun, Rolemaster, as well as computer games like WoW.

One of the reasons we're playing D&D now is one of our friends wanted to get his wife to try out gaming, but she had never been involved with a P&P RPG before. Our game of choice had been Rolemaster for over 10 years, but we went with D&D 3E (now 3.5) because it was an easier system. She's been playing in that campaign for over 6 years now, and contributes tremendously to the game. She still finds that combat drags for her (she's playing a bard, which doesn't help there). I'm hoping she will have more fun in 4E when we start playing that after concluding our long-running 3.5 game.

"I'm sorry if you thought I was insulting your female partner" is a piss-poor attempt at apology, especially since it's only aimed at the guys who thought you might be dissing their wives and says nothing to the females we have on these boards that were insulted by your post. Dan, I'd suggest just backing off, because the more you post in this thread, the more you make yourself look like an ass.

I think you mistakenly saw a picture of me. I'm fat, bearded, and ugly.

I am the Stereotypical Gamer that scares children and frightens parents. If not for the fact that I don't smell, I'd have been ranked #1 on USA Today's Stereotypical Gamer Rankings List. As it stood, some guy in Georgia is ahead of me in the polls.

Actually, the thread title is "4e is pure win and I'll tell you why". Theoretically, it doesn't tell us anything about 3E or anything. Maybe 3E is also pure win, maybe not. The OP definitely focused on the fact that his wife is now playing with him, which could make any game or any edition pure win.

I was keying off the original post that compared it to 3.x in this aspect - again, just looking for guidance on the line.
