D&D Demo... Mixed experience.

Good read, glad it worked out. I would punch my grandma in the mouth for a copy of the official demo delve/adventure that's being run in actual shops. I mean I wouldn't knock her teeth out or anything, but she'd have a bloody lip--I'm that committed.

Anyway, it sounds like the DM did the best he could, so that's great. I've played with some DMs in the past that were just downright embarrassing. The players are all exchanging these glances of... "WTF?" There's a keen difference between working with a new set of rules (sounds like what you encountered) and flat-out not being prepared in any way, shape, or form.

D&D 4E - The Blame Game. It's an important part of the 4E play experience.
Remember that the designers said they experimented with DM/Player adversity? The blame game is one of the few parts that worked and remained in 4E.

I knew it! Blame is a power source in 4e. :p

Thanks everyone for the feedback!

First time DMing a game that has not been released yet. It's very easy to forget things, mistake others, misreading stuff from the PHB Lite, etc.

I've read many game reports, and in most of them there are always doubts with some rules and for what I've read, people have been filling holes with 3.x rules.

Alright, good...ish. I was sort of wondering if my experience was the rule or the exception. Since it seems like most people have encountered similar things, I feel relatively on par with everyone else. And that's a good thing, I think. Heh, I can't wait to go play again in oh... two weeks.

Don't hurt grandma, she loves you!

Butuhh... yeah, I think you're right. His style of description is not what I'm used to ("You hit" instead of something like "Your brute strike rends flesh and bone. Somehow, it still stands" ...but that's just yummy fluff), but he tried to be a good and fair dm... so props to him in that regard. Now what I'm wondering is... when I go back to play again, should I let him know what the correct rules are before we play? Or should I just be quiet and let the game play out?
