I think that was Ed Stark's point. It was more on what they learned from what Microsoft DIDN'T do. :D
Didn't MS offer some Windows source code to other third-party software developers like LucasArts so we can play games like KOTOR on our PCs?

Aside from this article (which is very good), that site makes me ill.
Political discussion there? Some of the readers of this very thread may be on the Right - as valid a choice for gamers as any, I should say.

Please sir - it's fine if the site does make you ill, but this is not the place to note it. :)

Funny...I've been absent fom ENWorld (just lurking occasionally), I popped over here to point out the NRO article to the denizens here and found I was beaten too it. You see...there are conservatives lurking wherever you go...:)

This particular author definately would fit in with the 30 something gamer crowd...when writing about things outside of politics he usually focuses on music (usually heavy metal). His last such article that I recall reading was about the literary and historical influences in Iron Maiden's lyrics.

And yeah...let's keep politics out of it. If NRO makes you ill...go here for a place that will make you feel better: http://www.tnr.com/

I tend to read both. As far as political websites go, I think they are the most sane and good at making their points without spewing hatred for the other side. In other words, they don't tend to cater to the "kool-aid drinkers" in their respective camps. They often hold "opinion duels" between their editors which is cool.

Yes, that has to be the best article on D&D I've ever seen in the mainstream press. A balanced presentation that highlighted some of the strengths of the hobby and it's changes over the years... and one always has to appreciate hearing about an old gamer introducing the game to his kids... :)

I thought politics isn't allowed here. I mean if you people want to start in, I'll give you an arguement.

I noticed that article too (I read NRO every day) and was going to post it here since the article is politically neutral. But someone beat me to it!

NRO is a partisan conservative website, but the article is politically neutral and a good read so lets keep politics out of the thread so that everyone can get a chance to read it and the mods don't have to shut it down.
