D&D Meetup: that went well

First Post
Last Saturday was the monthly D&D Meet up here in Boston (well, Cambridge) which is an informal gathering at our FLGS Pandemonium books. My sig has details about what meetup.com is/does, but basically this was for folks looking for a game to get together and see what clicks.

Only a few folks had RSVP's but in the end 11 people showed up. None of us had been to a meet up before. Only two of us were very experienced with 4e. Most other folks had either not played since 1e or only had a few, long-ago 3e sessions under their belts. This was supposed to be just a meet-and-greet with no actual game play but one of the more experienced attendees volunteered to run a few encounters , so several of the newbie’s bought dice, PHB's and other books on the spot. I had to leave and missed the game, but I left my contact info and everyone is trying to put the next game together. All 11 won't make it of course, but there's another meet up next month.

So that was pretty amazing for the store and we all had a good time. There were two other well-attended D&D games going on at the store while we were there as well.

It's anecdotal and certainly not representative of anything, but I left feeling like the hobby I love and the store I enjoy are both in pretty good shape right now.

Fun! And I love Pandemonium. I should swing by next month. Will you post when the next meeting's date is decided?

I'll update my sig when I get the new date. It was very fun, with some people discussing how they are house ruling the PHB2 and others asking, 'There's a PHB 2?' but everyone enthusiastic about the game.
