D&D 4E D&D Minion, app for managing 4E encounters

Tracking HP manually on paper is way faster and easier than continuously updating the values using keyboard/mouse.

I would disagree depending on how you do it. Right now I use an MS Excel sheet to track combat (which looks a lot like your program). I don't "update" the HP values for creatures, all I do is enter how much damage they took that round and it automatically deducts it from their total HP. Also then highlights the creature's name in bold red when it gets bloodied.

As a fellow programmer, I know that you often want to show people the most effective way to do something, but I know that having to keep track of HP on a separate sheet of paper and then refer to this program would be a deal breaker to me.

Weird, link just leads me to a blank grey page..

Dang :( The hosting platform (Google App Engine) does that sometimes. I just now checked and it seems to work. If you can't get it working now see some workaround tips in earlier in this thread.

Hmm, that's a good idea, show a "damage" column instead of HP. I'll take a look how to incorporate that to the UI.

The bloodied condition does just that currently, and applying it automatically with HP/damage tracking is in my todo list.

Yeah, there are a lot of ways to use the app. The original motivation for was to display initiative order and defense values for everyone in the room, but trying to solve the bookkeeping problem better seems like a logical direction.

Is the damage column with automatic bloodied/dying/defeated logic the only showstopper for you? Or have some other ideas how to make the app even more useful?
