D&D 5E D&D Next Q&A: More Classes/Subclasses, Retraining & Playing Without Subclasses

You're big boys and/or girls, I'm sure you can figure it out; I cannot say...it's...forbidden...*said like Damien/The Gemini Killer in Exorcist III*

I'm assuming that the agenda is trying to prove that material that's only been around for 10 years or so could be considered just as worthy of being enshrined as canon as the material that was produced 30-40 years ago.

I've never found the Warlock to be particularly popular as a class, nor do I think it would be butchering that class to make it a sub-class of mage.

Neat, an Elf Fighter/Mage trained by the Githyanki is a good way to go.

Cool. That's a lot better than the thing I've been trying to do: I started out trying to see what a Cleric/Arcanist in 5E Next would be like, and designing one in a text file. I made her dedicated to Corellon because, you know, "Arcanist." (That was simplest.)

Then I got disillusioned with 5E Next and tried to create a back-formation of her into 4th Edition rules: Ugh! She loses her "Ray of Frost" cantrip and can only get "Divine Bolts" if she's a Hybrid Cleric/Invoker.

Then it requires a feat ("Power of Arcana") to allow her "Divine Bolts" At-Will attack power to become "Arcane" as well as being "Divine"; and it takes getting into Paragon Tier to allow the same power to become of the COLD damage type ("Arcane Admixture" feat). Phooey!

As far as I can tell, the "agenda" is that we like 4e.

"Assuming" can get people fired.
Last I heard, liking 4e and posting about it hasn't been forbidden on these boards.
