D&D Online: Looking good

Boy this would be a wonder. I'm on a supposedly RP server in WoW, and the RPing is minimal.
Really? I see a fair amount of it on Silver Hand, once you get away from the d00dz in Ironforge. (Once the auction houses are linked through all the cities, I think the d00dz are in trouble, since the population will spread out.)

The level 10 cap (even if it would be raised later) seems sad - especially when WoW players can reach as high as level 60, I believe (though a "level" in WoW probably doesn't bring as many benefits as a D&D-like level). Also, I would think the hard core MMO player will be at level 10 in about 5-7 days. :D

Well, remember, D&D has a normal max of 20 levels. In order to make moments of advancement more common, they're sort of subdividing the levels into 4. So, it's more like 40 levels...1.0, 1.1, 1.2, 1.3, 2.0, etc.

Not that I'll be playing...

Bah! I'm playing with 24th level characters in tabletop D&D now.

There are no level limits in 3.5 D&D, and there shouldn't be any here - especially in a computer game that hopes to compete with WoW.

But, yeah, I suppose the "sublevels" will help this, even though, once again, it's not 3.5 D&D.

Yech.
I dunno about anyone else, but the more I read about this game, the less interested I get. Now, I KNOW that D&D strictly by-the-book would NOT work in a MMORPG environment, but it seems like they're making some questionable changes to things that should work just fine (Cleave/G. Cleave comes to mind...)

IMO the only major change from the core DnD rules should have been turn based to real time combat, the way they did it in Neverwinter Nights.

I like the way NWN handled it, even though I would prefer turn-based (like ToEE)/Baldur's Gate.

Owell, NWN2 will be out late next year.
