D&D resources on the Internet

Hi guys,

I was reading a thread on the boards about how people organise their D&D files on their computer. Reading it made me go back and actually organise all of the things that I had downloaded from the net over the years. Now that I have done that I am looking at finding more stuff to download! :D The only problem is I'm not sure where to find it.

I have downloaded all that I want from EN World along with a whole heap of stuff from the Wizards site. I am still currently going through what in on the Morailty.net site. What other sites are good sources of information?

I'm not after anything in particular. Pretty much anything goes, any D&D/AD&D edition is fine as is anything D20 . I figure that I'll just download it, see if I can use the information, and if not just delete it. Currently I have a wide range of things from netbooks to maps to web enhancements to PDF books that I have bought from RPGNow to various generators.

The other thing I am interested in is if anyone happens to have saved the giant resource list that was compiled on the old Wizards D&D Homebrew boards. It was basically a huge list of websites that would be useful to DM's for worldbuilding and the like. I had it bookmarked but I didn't use it for a while and the link somehow became broken. If you don't happen to have that particular link, any other links to similar lists would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

I know what link you're talking about, but I don't have it bookmarked here at my new job yet. I think I might have it on my computer at home. I'll check when I get there.

In general, I think that if you just google something like "fantasy campaign worlds", eventually you'll find a page with a bunch of links to homebrew campaign worlds. Play around with various iterations of that phrase in google and you'll find a bunch. If you want d20/D&D compatible, just put that in the title.

There are a billion and one D&D sites with good stuff out there. Here's some:

http://www.siberys.com/index.php - Eberron stuff
http://d20srd.org/index.htm - a fantastic html SRD, with some goodies.
http://www.io.com/~sjohn/plots.htm - the big list of RPG Plots. You MUST save this! (There's a pdf version.)
http://www.andargor.com/ - Offline searchable SRD. Also other good utilities and ref docs.
http://www.fancc.net/ - Netbooks

Also:
1000 non-rpg websites for rpg ideas, parts 1 and 2
http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=21656
http://www.enworld.org/forums/showthread.php?t=92098

And don't forget to look thru the EN World Links:

well wotc has some free downloads. including old and new edition material.

web enhancements, free adventures, generators, maps, etc...

also try www.mortality.net
and www.dragonsfoot.org

Thanks Diaglo. I have already visited the WOTC site and downloaded all the web enhancements that I was interested in along with some of their adventures and most of the Maps-of-the-week. I probably won't use most of it but at least it widens my choices. I haven't heard of Dragonsfoot though. I have bookmarked it to look at later

Samothdm did you happen to find the old Wizards Homebrew Board thread that I was talking about? Does anyone else have it or know where it might be located now?

Thanks XCorvis! These are the exact types of things that I'm looking for. I love the plot list and all of the netbooks. Granted that not everything that you find in netbooks will be 100% balanced or even accurate but it can give you a starting point and provide inspiration for your own ideas. I already have bookmarked the Non-RPG Website pages.

The other thing I am on the lookout for though is generators and other useful little files. Anything that may help get things done quicker by getting rid of the manual calculations or by giving me ideas is what I am after.

Hey Samothdm. Did you happen to have that homebrew link that I was after? You said that you would check for me but I haven't seen anything yet.

I found a java based treasure generator that kicked mucho asso. I then lost it off my hard drive.

If anyone out there knows which one I'm talking about re-link me!

Edit: It was 3.5 compatible.

Sorry for the long wait. I've been out-of-town without access to my computer. I will check tonight and see but after reading what you're talking about I think that I might not exactly know what you're talking about.

Not to be lame, but have you tried asking over on the Wizards boards if anyone has the link?

That's cool. I do understand that people have many priorities above answering questions on a message board for some guy that they don't even know.

I have asked the question over on what was formerly known as the Wizards Homebrew Board. (I think it is now called Campaign Development) Surprisingly, (to me at least), no-one had heard of it before. I personally thought that a thread like that on a board like the Homebrew Board would have been semi-memorable at least. Maybe too much time has passed since the move that people have forgotten about the old boards. Maybe I just have a good memory for useless facts!

The only other place I thought about posting something was on the Meta-Board to see if there might have been some other place that they might have saved the tread to. I severely doubt my chances but you never know until you try I guess.

In the meantime I might as well try and pimp this dying thread some more! :D

Does anyone else know of good places to go on the Internet to find D&D resources to download. I'm after anything from fluff to crunch, from plot ideas to traps, NPC quirks to setting ideas, anything and everything.

Thanks,

Olaf the Stout
