D&D Wargaming *ARMIES OF GOOD*

The difference between the old CR 15 and the new CR 16 is 31 army building points. I will spend 37.5 points to get 6 more Lantern Archons, and 11.1 to get 100 Theren Wrens on loan from Wrahn. The remaining 20.4 points, I'll bank to spend on a bigger unit later.

Everything sound good?

[EDIT: Actually, for the wrens, I'd love it if they were actually tiny points of light (kind of like mini-lantern archons or fireflies) with the same stat block as the Wrens.]

Theren Wren's are actually Fey, you may want to play with them to make them outsiders, but little motes of light can be fey as well.

Fieari- just an update so you know i'm not dead or something. Right now, I'm working on a few drawings of my fortress that i'll scan and post tomorrow (too tired now). That, and I have to update my army (someone just remembered that even wood elves have +2 dex, -2 con, as well as bow/longsword proficiency :D )

Fieari- i believe Wrahn's up next, so if you need to double-check anything, it's his.

And I'm pretty much ready to go after he is, since all I need to do is spend a few thousand gold I still have to assign, and to ask whether you'll approve the Brass Guardian? ;)

Umm, carnifex, I believe I'm up before you are. I have been waiting since right after Wrahn (I don't mean to sound snappish or anything)

Sorry! :o Didn't mean to tread on any toes, just indicating my general readiness. I wasn't sure how close to being finished everyone else was.

Well, while looking at spending my last 27,000gp, I think I'm definitely going to upgrade my battlelord's axe to be ghost touch and probably a special material too, since I'ma bit worried about my armies defences against those mid-range incorporeal undead like spectres and wraiths, and against creatures with some of the wierder forms of DR. I mean, the GMW all-day tactic means that magic damage reduction is neutered but its things like the adamantine DR that may cause problems...

Can anyone think of any other potential weak spots I should be trying to cover?

Have you given thought to your defenses against flying units? Or, for that matter, units with other movement forms (i.e.- burrowing, earthglide, etc). Additionally, pesky things with natural invisibility are nasty (Will'O Wisp, etc).

Flying units get shot at by 120 +2 crossbow bolts per round ;) and the cleric's carrying a rod that can control winds 1/day to bring down flyers as well. Burrowing - well, I hope to have my own burrowing units to counteract that, if the Brass Guardian's are ok'd. Hopefully some of my spells like Spike Stones might help mess with burrowing units lines of attack as well. Natural invisibility - I've done the best I can to neutralise this, my lord has a helm that can see inv 3/day, various clerics carry scrolls of purge invisibility and generally a lot of the troops have some ranks in Spot and Listen to try and pick up any telltale signs. I mean, I'd prefer to have an entire army with see inv on all the time but sadly lack the resources to do so :p
