From WotC_DM

If you are a software developer, engineer or team lead, and you are passionate about D&D, we may have an opening for you.

If you have always wanted to bring your favorite RPG to the digital age, this is an opportunity of a life time!!

We are looking to recruit our D&DI dev team lead. As you may already have read, our current digital initiative is done by a company named Radiant Machine. In the next year, we are planning to bring these D&DI developments in house though, and to prepare for this, we are ramping up our internal team.

So if you are interested to become an important actor in our D&DI digital initiative, go check the job requirements at our job page

We know that the best fit for this type of position will come from the D&D community itself. There is no better place to look for the right person to fill that position!

Ah, they outsourced the DI's development. That explains a few things... smart idea to bring it in-house.

I am concerned about this as well. I wonder how much Radiant Initiative has done, and if they are going to work with the developers at WotC.

Mind you, I do think having the people in the D&DI in house is a good idea. My hope is that they will have a team of technically skilled people who are also familiar with the game.

If it's going to be ongoing then you need a in-house team really, but I wonder if this means most of the work has been done, will we be seeing a beta test or usable demo any time soon?

I agree that it pays to bring it in house. Having people in the company, who answer to the company is definitely a plus.

Of course, one has to ask how much work a new DI team has to do at this point.

Am I the only one cynical enough to read this as "we think people who are excited about D&D will work for us for way less than market rate!"?

My only concern is, if they've been planning for so long, and the DDI headlines 4E, and it's only 6 months away....why are they just now hiring their in-house people?

It's not uncommon for people to take a pay cut to do something that they love. I'd be making triple right now had I gone into actuarial work after I graduated. I'd be making less if I worked developing RPGs. I think I'd take a serious paycut to work doing something I like better.

Everything 4e seems to be running dangerously late. This would not worry me if I believed they would push back release dates. I don't believe they will push back release dates.
