Ooc

Michael definitely didn't anticipate the charge of the Hulgyr brigade.
If he can anticipate it, he'll say "No!"

If he can't, he'll ride after Hulgyr and try to use the Command spell before Hulgyr gets into combat. He'd probably yell "Stop!!" if he thinks he can get away with it.

Michael has absolutely no idea what to do if Hulgyr gets into combat just at the present, but the ants are 500+feet away, so he hopes to resolve the issue before then.

And I thought the sheperds had gone their separate ways...like, not here. Please let the shepherds not be here....

I add a Sense Motive check just in case it comes in handy...
Michael Sense Motive (1d20+3=17)

I so needed these rolls in combat.

ooc: Definitely didn't realize it was that far. If I may, I'd like to revise Ironwolf's action as follows:

Seeing Hulgyr's charge, Ironwolf yells for him to wait and sets out to pursue.

"We should go in as a unit, and take a moment to prepare! Wait for the others to catch up!"

Ironwolf will try to keep up with Hulgyr, but in any event will stop. dismount and manifest his two powers whenever he gets to be 120 feet away from the ants.

--- THE BAINLUNDER HILLS ---

- Surprise Round -

With a fierce cry, Hulgyr spurs his horse and sets off towards the ants.

- Round 1 -

Ironwolf, seeing the orc has no intention of heading the psychic warrior's call, wheels around his horse and sets off after Hulgyr.

Michael glares at Zaeryl and considers drawing on Sela's divine power to resolve the situation. But Hulgyr has opened up too much of a gap. The cleric of Sela shouts "Stop!", but it has as much effect as Ironwolf's call. Michale also spurs his horse into action.

Mikal looks at Zaeryl.

"I was going to say the ants have been here, in the Hills, for as long as anyone can remember." He shrugs. "Didn't know that they were so dangerous though."

Almayce glances at Eternity and sighs.

B4: Along the way Hulgyr will have been able to find a branch or piece of wood he could use as an improvised club.

I haven't seen Xael around for a bit. I don't think he has posted this month. Coming up there will ba an opportunity to peel him off from the rest of the group. Alternatively, I could leave him to tag along, perhaps without any time served XP for months he doesn't post in. Any thoughts, suggestions?

"That does not strike us as realistic in a natural state without outside influence, particularly considering that they are aggressive. Insect infestations are not something that will just abate if you ignore them. If the normal-sized ones ever got into your house, you would understand"

(OOC: Keep Almayce along--he can heal, and if Xael comes back, he'll be able to rejoin much more easily)

Michael spurs his horse on and tries to stay even with Ironwolf. If Ironwolf stops and readies himself for combat, Michael will rein in hard and help him prepare.
If they can get to 60' of Hulgyr, Michael will use the Command spell.

"Yes so it would appear." She replies and sets off on the back of Kailie. She won't enter combat on the back of her mount, but she'll at least get closer.

*Zaeryl keeps pace, hoping that Almayce will as well.*

"We should concentrate on the soldiers if we can figure out which are which. Frankly, we don't know what they look like, but perhaps they are noticably larger."

Hulgyr hears the rest of the group call out thier objections to his charge.
Not completely blinded by a bloodthirsty rage or complete terror of te ants eating thier way through entire villages, Hulgyr slows the pace of his horse slightly to allow the rest to catch up. He desn't stop though and continues at normal riding speed towards the ants.
He turns his head back slighly can shouts to the rear "Hurry up!"
