D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

"I guess we are going to deal with these vermin now." replies Eternity to Zaeryl's trailing point.

Michael eyes Zaeryl, well...stonily.
"I can't possibly thank you enough for your help in resolving this situation."

If Michael can cast his Command spell before Hulgyr gets out of range, he does so, targeting Hulgyr and using the command "Approach". I think the party has reined up, so although Michael is on horseback, he may not need a Concentration check. If Hulgyr appears to be stopping on his own, Michael skips the spell.

Just in case:
Initiative check: Michael's initiative roll (1d20=20)
(Why can't I roll like this in combat against evil?)
Concentration Check: Michael's Concentration Check (1d20+5=24)
(Ditto..)

(OOC: Oh dear--spending spells on the other PCS? )

"You are quite welcome. We are sure that the villagers would echo their thanks if they ever realised that they have been saved from inevitable doom. Then again, it seems like they will not ever learn of what we do this day, which is of no concern."

Ooc

(If Michael thought he could stop him some other way, he would. Unfortunately, it sounds as if Hulgyr swept off at full charge, without waiting for us to talk or communicate with him.
If someone can stop him without magic, Michael would be grateful.
He's fully aware this is not a good thing, just a "less bad" thing, and will be pleased to atone to Hulgyr as soon as he stops trying to kill himself.)

Hulgyr spurs off at the first oppertunity at full speed for the ants.

ooc: oh dear, this looks like it might get messy.... :)
Initiative: 12
Will save: 10

If Hulgyr doesn't get a surprise round it looks like he's not going anywhere... for now.

--- THE BAINLUNDER HILLS ---

Mikal obviously has something he wants to add, but doesn't get the chance before the party explodes into action.

- ooc -
I figure the only way Michael is going to get the spell off in time is if he guesses what Hulgyr is about to do. Thats not quite consistant with the posts so far. But Hulgyr is sticking to form here, so I'll give Michael a shot. Sense Motive DC 15 in order to be able to get the the spell off before Hulgyr gets to far away.

Paltin: the ants are some 250+ yards away, about 750 feet (or 15 rounds of running?).Just wanted to check you knew.

Edit: Sorry. You are right. No shepherds.
