D1: Ashin's Commission (El Jefe judging)

"No one get up above that ridgeline. If you stand at the top, you can be seen a long ways off. If you absolutely have to, make sure it's in a place with a lot of trees and brush, so the vegetation can obscure you."

A little while later, after observing the rough terrain:

"This is taking longer than I'd hoped. Do we spend the time in order to avoid the enemy, or do you want to hook up with the trail tomorrow and take our chances?"

No answer. Michael is refusing to foist his opinion on the rest of the party, either through concern for Zaeryl's tender feelings or pique.
(OOC: Who are we kidding? It's pique. But Michael will tell you it's for Zaeryl :))

Eternity is cowed into silence by the arguement. She looks around for signs of the soldiers. She will stick with the group happy that the arguement has subsided even though a resolution was yet to be had.

(ooc: sorry for the lack of posting, I'm still confused on where we are and will just follow along)

OoC: I'm trying to figure out that myself. Ironwolf and Michael are moving "south", in the direction of Kinthriver, which is some days away. They expect to make about 6 miles progress along the ridgeline parallel to the Kinthriver road by nightfall.

OOC:

Michael left in a huff, taking Ironwolf's advice and going south.
Ironwolf is apparently following Michael, which surprises Michael. (Patlin, please correct if I'm wrong.)

The rest of the party may or may not follow Ironwolf or Michael.

I'm back! i was ill for the last couple of days so sorry for the delay. I won't make IC statments of Hulgyr in the discussions that have been made but summarize it as following:
"Hulgyr is not pleased with Michael's mind contolling action. Neither does he approve of Zaeryl's ideas about killing the soldiers in cold blood. He warns Michael that he won't accept his action so easily next time. He mostly ignores Zaeryl. Hulgyr want's to move as much in the direction of Duvik as possible."

What are we doing with the captured soldiers in the mean time?

Since thier plan involves moving to Duvik in a indirect path, but going to duvik nonetheless, he will go with them. Moreover i believe 'the rest' haven't posed another plan on going to Duvik yet. Hulgyr wants to get moving and not hide and wait for the storm to blow over.

Ironwolf is indeed following Michael, which seems to him only fair as Michael is implementing the plan that Ironwolf suggested. Also, no one seems to be objecting to the plan, so Ironwolf hopes there is at least a consensus as far as the general direction of travel goes.

Answering Hulgyr, Ironwolf says the following in a very even tempered tone of voice.

"I took this man prisoner, and he's under my protection unless he attacks us, tries to escape, or is released. And by released, I don't mean that Zaeryl is free to kill him the very moment I tell him he can go. I think its important to be clear on these things in advance to prevent any misunderstanding: I will consider any attempt to kill my prisoner to be an attack upon myself."

"There comes a point at which that which is practical and even wise must bow before that which is right. Even when that means accepting a greater degree of personal risk. I understand the practical basis of the other view, but I'd rather put myself in needless danger than to stoop to the degree of ruthlesness necessary to avoid that risk."

He gives Zaeryl a bland look. He expect that regardless of how clearly he states his moral position, the psion will choose to interpret his position as a lack of intelligence. He finds this only mildly annoying, however, and chooses to ignore it.
