[d20 Modern] Brawl and Combat Martial Arts?

First Post
Hi, just need some clarification on how unarmed combat is supposed to work in d20 modern. This is how I think it works:

Unarmed: 1d3+str, provokes AoO, nonlethal
Unarmed with Brawl: +1 to hit, 1d6+str, provokes AoO, nonlethal
Unarmed with Combat Martial Arts: 1d4+str, does not provoke AoO, lethal or non-lethal
Armed with Brass Knuckles and Brawl: +1 to hit, 1d6+1+str, does not provoke AoO, lethal

So, assuming that is correct, how do the 2 interact? Is it:

Unarmed with Brawl and Combat Martial Arts: +1 to hit, 1d6+str, does not provoke an AoO, lethal or non-lethal

And does this mean there are 2 viable unarmed fighting paths (Brawling with Brass Knuckles vs. Combat Martial Arts)?

Many thanks for any help.

Correct.

Incorrect. It would still provoke an AoO. Per the SRD:

Brass Knuckles
These pieces of molded metal fit over the outside of a character’s fingers and allow him or her to deal lethal damage with an unarmed strike instead of nonlethal damage. A strike with brass knuckles is otherwise considered an unarmed attack.
When used by a character with the Brawl feat, brass knuckles increase the base damage dealt by an unarmed strike by +1 and turn the damage into lethal damage.

I've never had this come up, but I'm don't think Brawl and Combat Marial Arts stack, meaning a character with both would have to pick which one he was using. At least, that is how I would rule it, I think.

They don't stack. It got clarified somewhere, I can't remember where. Maybe the modern FAQ.

It was clarified in the Bullet Points column.

Brawl and Combat Martial Arts are incompatible with each other, and do not stack, and neither do the feats that list either as their prerequisites (so no Knockout Punch + Improved Martial Arts, for instance).
