1. Don't forget: "GeneTech", the mysterious lost campaign setting from d20 Modern, is in the next issue of Polyhedron.

Genetically altered supersoldiers. What's not to like, people?

2. Somebody better have a really tricked-out steampunk supplement in print by March.

umm only if the setting was OGC then we could use it...

Wait a minute. I thought the official release date is November 8. That store should be fined or be incarcerated for selling the product before the release date. Thanks to the internet, we know about stores selling products early and get pissed off while other stores (like the ones in our area or state) are abiding Wizards' wish.

Fined? Incarcerated]?

Hey, if WotC finds out that this store isn't respecting their release dates, they can stop letting that store sell their products. They can maybe get them blackballed by distributors. But certainly nobody's going to do hard time over violating a release date.

Personally, I'd love to hear more about that Action Point system. What exactly can AP be used for? How does a character acquire them? Are they replenishable like hit points?

I think Ranger REG was being a little facetious, there. Although there was two years ago a big to-do about the PHB getting released early, WotC really hasn't done much about breaking street dates, because it can be very difficult to prove and track down - besides, with a product liek gaming material that makes much less profit than other avenues (like say, set-top video games), you don't have much resource to track down violators - to say nothing of antagonizing your store retailers who sell your product, whose goodwill you want to keep.

I just find it terribly ironic that the R&D team doesn't have final copies yet, and some fans out on the OPPOSITE side of the country already have theirs! talk about wonky supply chains!

I posted the Action Point uses a couple posts back. You never regain AP, once they're gone, they're gone. However you do gain more each level up.

When you level (in a basic class) you gain 5+1/2 your level (rounded down) in AP. Advanced classes can have a higher point gain.

Also I haven't seen it mentioned in the book, but I'd consider awarding action points during the course of the game for great roleplaying or heroic actions. Kinda of a karma system, maybe?

One intresting thing I noticed in the GM section is a table for assigning CR's to a critical skill check.

Well holy crap... I just scored myself a copy. No kidding.

I went to my FLGS with the intention of buying a new boardgame for the evenings entertainment, and I spot it lying under a pile of books in the New Arrivals section. I did a bug-eyed double take, like a looney toons character, grabbed it and ran to the counter.

That's my little story. yay.

I'll try to read through the thread and answer any unanswered questions. (no, I won't divulge which store I bought it at)

So no help in healing damage, eh? Just preventing it in the first place perhaps.

Are there any special conventions for recovering lost hit points in campaigns where healing magic isn't something to be taken for granted? Perhaps a fast-healing feat?

I've called every store in a 50-mile radius and they're all saying Nov. 15. I wonder if they'll get surprised by a shipment this weekend. I have the preview booklet, but dammit, I want it NOW! :)

Mike

So order it from Amazon.com. I should have my copy next week. :D

Armor adds to Defense like standard D&D but all classes get Defense bonuses as in Star Wars or WoT so armor seems to be less important than in standard fantasy.
So do the defense bonus and the armor bonus stack, or do you take the higher of the two like in Star Wars (unrevised version)?

I guess none of the settings are Dark Matter with a different name....
Mongoose Publishing's Codename Veil setting might be comparable. It's hard to be sure, though, since all I have to go on is the blurb from the site linked above.

From page 132 - Defense:
Your defense is equal to:

10 + Dexterity Modifier + class bonus + equipment bonus + size modifier
Imho, it looks like it stacks.
