D20 Modern is out!

Well, let's see. The magic advanced classes are all 10 level classes that davance to casting 5th level spells/powers.

Telepath gets bonus PP based on Cha.
Battlemind is like a combo psychic warrior/mindblade. Up to 4th lvl powers and gets both a psychic blade of mental energy and a psychic shield of mental energy.

Mages go to 5th level spells and are wizard-like (Int bonus spells and spellbook). They do get familars.

I don't see any sorcerer equivalent advanced class during my quick glance.

Acolyte is goes to 5th level divine spells and can turn undead.

The spells such pretty much D&D standards with a couple new modern spells like Power Device.

The magic item section is pretty light. However there are something modern magic things like duct tape of repair and crystal pistols.

Everything in the book is for modern era. No spaceships or such however the rules seem more general (adaptible) then D&D so Future D20 would just be a matter of creating new equipment and advanced classes. Mecha Crusade in Poly is a group example of how easy it is to do sci-fi with D20 Modern.

Anything specific you want to know?

US $39.95 CAN $55.95

I have no idea how much will be OGL because it contains the standard "This Wizards of the Coast product contains no Open Game Content." quote it in like CoC d20 and WoT.

Are you sure that Nov 8 is the release date and just not the date everyone should have it in by. My FLGS didn't know anything about an official release date and told me they thought it was a "release it as you get it" deal. They have followed the release dates before with the PHB and such.

The Nov. 8 date might just be the day when d20 Modern gets released to the SRD and third party publishers can release d20 modern material.
Nope. Charles Ryan (co-author of d20 Modern and voice spokesperson) stated on Wizards' d20 Modern messageboards that the official release date is November 8. He only added that the d20 Modern rules section will be added to the SRD hopefully on the following day of release.

How about how usable this kind of stuff is for a low-magic fantasy campaign?

Aaaaaaand......er....new monsters? New critters? How do guns and armor relate? Following normal D&D/CoC rules (still need to roll to hit, each gun has damage), or following some newfangled, more realistic, ruleset?

Speaking of which: what newfangled, more realistic rulesets are there?

You can check out the Unofficial d20 Modern FAQ Page (Click Here).

You can also ask Charles Ryan at the Wizards' d20 Modern messageboard.

And to answer one of your question: d20 Modern will be using a modified CoC version of the Hit Point system (if a single attack's lethal damage exceeds the Con score, make a Fort Save or HP will drop to -1).

Of great interest to my favorite iconic, MEEPO appears under the kobold entry in full camo with a shotgun and walkie talkie.

Are you serious? He's actually named Meepo? Damn you, now I have to buy this!!!

Curse you, WoTC, and your individually targeted marketing! :)

Pretty much just like D&D (for that, I can only be thankful. I get tired of people reinventing the wheel.)

Depends on your point of view.

From the WotC boards, I found out that while individual spells and psi powers were tweaked and made more useful (Enhance ability compared to a spell for each attribute increase). The application was the same, disappointing.

Some people may like their wooden cart wheels, they get the job done. Some of use like our 4X4 moster truck tires! or better yet -- racing slicks! :)

Meepo, the name is on the camo over the chest pocket, army style. Definately is Meepo!

Very usable for low magic fantasy. Essentially the advanced classes are lower powered prestige class version of wizard, cleric, and psion.

Monsters all are modernized ie. Kobolds come with modern equipment.

Creature Weakness table for adding weaknesses. The whole monster chapter is laid out as a monster factory with detailed creation rules. The actual monsters are under a example creatures section.

Action Points and Repuatation are new rules I haven't read yet.
Vehicles are included.

Firearms seem like normal weapons with some feats avaiable for them like Double Tap and Burst Fire.

Armor adds to Defense like standard D&D but all classes get Defense bonuses as in Star Wars or WoT so armor seems to be less important than in standard fantasy.

I need to get going now. I'll check back in later and try to answer more stuff.
