Dallas Gameday?

Bump. Do we have a location yet?

Given that only a few people are expressing any interest, is anyone willing to host it at their house?

We could all bring munchies. :)

I can get us a space at a local store - Generation X in Bedford. When I called last month they said they could accomidate up to 20. If we're good for the 20th, I'll call and book it.

FYI - I'm taking the family up to Tulsa during the week of July 4th.

What on Earth for? There's nothing in Tulsa. Wait, are you coming to pay me a visit?

Seems like the game store might be the most viable option.

Where is everyone? Am I going to have to come down to Dallas and smack you all in the ears?

About reserving: will we need both Friday afternoon to evening, and Saturday all day?

I believe GenX's hours are typically 11AM-ish to 8PM-ish if memory serves me correctly.

About Tulsa: you need to get our more DK! There's plenty of things to do.

Here's my top 10 list! Note - it's heavily influenced by my kids.

1) Tulsa Zoo
2) Philbrook Museum & Gardens
3) Eating at the Metro Diner
4) Riding the carousel at Woodland Hills Mall
5) Visiting the shops in Utica Square
6) Tulsa Botanical Gardens
7) Gardner's Used Books on Mingo
8) Walking around Cherry Street
9) Biking along Riverside Park (we won't have our bikes this time :( )
10) Swimming at the indoor pool at the Marriott

Anyhoo - we'll see about getting together! We're probably be in town for three or four days, especially when "Boom River" takes place.

Well, in all fairness, we've only been here since March. So far, we've been to the Zoo. Doesn't Dallas have a zoo? We've also been to the Jenks Aquarium. It's awesome. The rest, we've not done yet, but the list looks like a good place to start! I think I've been to Philbrook gardens, though. I think I know it by a different name, maybe. I'm not sure.

I work on Mingo. Where is Gardner's Used Books?

Tulsa takes time to get to know. I had the luxury when I lived there to be (a) single and (b) lived cross-town from where I worked. I took different routes to work and got to know the town. I was also an avid bicycler, finding routs that took me 15 to 20 miles in different directions. I know a lot of the town has drastically changed in the past 15 years, but there are times when I wished I still lived there.

Dallas has a zoo which is OK, and Fort Worth's is even better. But IMHO Tulsa Zoo has better exhibits and more diverse groups of animals. Neither of the D/FW zoos have many animals from North America, which to me doesn't make sense. Most people here don't see local animals unless they're dead on the road or stuffed and mounted.

You've probably seen the Tulsa Garden Center/Woodward Park, which is near 21st and Peoria. The Philbrook is nearby, but in the middle of a residential area rather than abutting any major streets. It was owned by the Phillips family (aka Phillips Petroleum) and is in the style of an Italian villa. Home for all sorts of European art, and their gardens are like nothing you'll see in this part of the country.

Gardner's Used Books is just south of the BA EXP at 4421 Mingo.

Gardner's is like a block away from where I work. Literally a block away. We drove past it tonight, and it looks huge on the inside. I'll definitely have to go spend some time in there. Not that I need any more books...

Anyway, about that Dallas Game day...
