Damage types from DDM

IIRC, the following types were not in 3.5 DDM:

Bludgeoning
Piercing
Slashing
Non-lethal

So seeing them ommitted in 4E DDM does not mean they will be ommitted in 4E RPG.

Untyped damage does seem to exist. It is "physical" damage, plain old, "I hit you in the face with my warhammer damage."

Now, I hope that stays just like that <untyped> represents "physical" damage and they dont invent additional types of untyped damage.

I am a bit concerned with this because I was hoping all the damage types would be shorn up with "resist X <damage>". Now it appears they will have a secondary system to deal with <untyped> damage.

Thunder is likely the new Sonic.

Necrotic could end up representing anything that causes cellular death. I suspect poison is necrotic, and I guess disease would as well, or "withering" (what used to be known as aging), or gradual things that could potential cause death (or petrification).

I think acid will be under wounds.

Poison?

I would have sworn that I had seen mentioned (in more than one place) that Poison was to be a damage type in 4e. Has it been replaced with Necrotic, perhaps?

I wouldn't be surprised if necrotic was actually "the new level drain".

It sounds nasty, means 'tissue death' and it seems like a natural fit with wights, wraiths etc.

(We saw "Poison" as a damage time in the doomspore excerpt and maybe in the spined devil DDM card too)

Damage types in DDM most likely do not map directly to damage types in 4E in all cases. In particular I wouldn't make any assumptions about non-lethal damage being gone. It didn't exist in DDM 1.0 either.

The list you should be comparing it to is the list of damage types in DDM 1.0, which included:

non-magic (delivered by attack, affected by DR etc)
magic (as non-magic)
fire
cold
acid
sonic
electricity
negative energy
poison
untyped (e.g. from a manticore's spikes which were treated more like a spell than an attack in DDM)

Probably some others I'm forgetting too. Basically the most we can take away from this list in terms of direct applicability to 4E is likely just the minor stuff, like "sonic and electricity are now called thunder and lightning." Something's absence or presence in the DDM rules is not necessarily predictive of anything in 4E otherwise.

As per the DDM booklet Enervated is a new condition. It causes the person to deal 1/2 damage with their attacks.

There is the Ongoing X <damage type> effect listed too. And yes I think I do recall poison damage too from that card... Don't see it in the pamphlet though.
