Dammit, Warlord, Warlock, Tiefling, and Dragonborn are growing on me.

I think they've already developed an ointment for that.
You should take more time to dry thoroughly after you shower.

Driddle, your content free "humour" posts are starting to wear thin. Please desist

Here's why. Based on what little we know about warlord and warlock as classes, and tiefling and dragonborn as races, they are really starting to feel "grim and gritty" to me (I know, this will probably spawn a 10-page thread debating what "grim and gritty" means :D ).

Warlord: "Cut them down, brothers! NOW!" (muscles bulging from his huge battle axe).

Tiefling: (eyes glowing red, clawed fingers gripping spear) "I shall spill their blood, my Warlord chieftan!"

Warlock: "Starspawn of Cthulhu, I call on you now, honor our PACT!" (lightning sizzles out from trembling gloved hands)

Dragonborn: (charges the enemy with the speed and fury of, well, a dragon) "Yessssssss!"

Okay, I'm not the world's best favor text writer myself. :o But I hope you get my point. There is something distinctly grim and gritty about these new races and classes.

Now I have to say, I like grim and gritty. I like Warhammer. I like Iron Kingdoms. I like "dark and savage" fantasy. Put another way, I'm starting to think that Warlock, Warlord, Tiefling, and Dragonborn just might help make D&D more this:

I liked the sound of them even before this post, but I have to agree you make them sound good.

I also like the idea of making the world a slightly scarier places for the average adventurer

Metal is Bad.

I still think I am growing more comfortable with how this stuff is laid out. Paladins are Lawful or Good in the PH, but see the DM for evil/Chaotic. I like.

Not to poop the party here, but what, exactly, motivates a lizard? Cool as they may be in the board game functions of DnD I honestly have no idea what motivates them. Ever taken a look at the fluff for the Dragon Shaman? WotC has no idea what motivates dragon people either, as their description entirely boils down to the pursuit of power, whether you idealize a red dragon, a gold dragon, or a brass one.

Sell me on dragonborn having comprehensible motives and world view along with 1980s retro haircuts and you'll have me.

The motivations for Dragonborn will be the same as for dwarves, elves and all other races.

That's a motivation.

I agree pretty much completely except the dragonborn at this point. I've been very happy with the design articles, and some of this new information sounds great (I love how different warlocks and sorcerers already seem from wizards), but dragonborn just wreak of the old "dragons are cool! lets make all kinds of draconic races and creatures!" attitude. I think it dilutes the dragon, and makes it less impressive when you finally meet one.
