Don't worry. It's not that difficult. How about I make a polite suggestion what to buy with your XP, you just look up what talents and skills you have. It'll be a bit before we get to combat. It's the roleplaying that counts more then the numbers on the sheet.

@Hero & Walking Dad.
You roll percentile dice and you try to roll under a target number. the lower you roll, the better. The higher the target number the better. You add bonusses and penalties to your target number, not your roll.

Targets are based on your attributes.
Basic skills have a target number of half your stat.
Learned skills have a target number of your full stat.
You start the game with basic and learned skills, and use XP to buy more.
Talents allow you to bend the rules or give you bonusses on certain skills or against certain attacks.

To shoot at someone, roll under your ballistic skill +/- bonus. If you hit, you do damage. Damage location is based upon the reverse of your attack roll. Subtract armor and toughness from the attack. If you have leftover damage, their wounds are reduced. Wounds below zero kills minions, specials and players start to suffer from crit damage.
If you have the dodge skill you can spend a reaction to dodge an attack. You only have one reaction per round. If you are attacked in melee and you have a weapon you can parry by rolling under your weapon skill. This also costs a reaction.

That's it. :)
Simple :)

I'll start you guys up at the Arbites Fortress when you give me the go.
Btw, I'm reading Enforcer right now. On the whole the WH40K fiction is actually quite decent to very good, and so far I'm enjoying it immensely.

Trix

I think I got the character right this time (It would be nice if my security settings would let me use the character generator, but after having to format my hard drive and reinstall Windows twice in the last fortnight due to Windows getting corrupted somehow, I'm not going to take a risk)
If I did get it wrong, let me know. In any case, this'll give you an idea of the character.

Appearance and character

Trix is a slender young woman, about 165cm tall. She always appears pale due to the makeup she wears - pale on the skin, black on eyelashes and eyebrows, although she avoids lipstick. Mostly. She wears robes for formal occasions, but under them she wears what appears to be a tightly laced-up corset and a multilayer skirt that tends to billow mostly outwards when unconfined by the robes, making her striped black and white stockings and black boots clearly visible. When not in a formal situation, she just shucks the robes.
She often seems maddeningly unaware of what is happening around her, but somehow she does seem to notice. Her mind is quick, so quick she tends to get bored easily, and starts doing something else as well as the task she's supposed to be doing, and usually succeeds in both. When something arouses her interest, however, she focuses intensely.

Looks allright.

Lock her up in the rogue gallery, and we'll start play. I'll throw in Brutis and Kincaid when I get an OK from the players.

Cheers,

Dr Z.

NOTE TO ALL : CHARACTERS START WITH MAXIMUM WOUNDS AND FATE.

SO for the record, I been searching for a 'speaking personality' for Bruce McClane, and I can't really emulate Bruce Willis very well(The original plan), so just wanted to ask if anybody had a problem with me filling in the holes with a little bit'o Jayne/Mal from Firefly? Or would that seem out of place to anybody? (Seems like the vibe fits with 40k to me, but wanted to see if it'd mess up anybody else's set feeling.

I am shamed to admit I've never ever seen a single episode of firefly. Play him as you see fit, I've had no complaints so far.

Btw, this game has gone from 'I wonder if someone posted this week' to 'better check ENworld five times a day'. Hurraaaaaaaaaaah.

It looks like school has kicked into full gear. As such, with my other games, I'm afraid I don't have the time I need to get up to speed on the system, the world, and my place in it.

Happy gaming... I'm not going to be doing much for a while. :/
