D&D 5E Dark Sun in 5E?

So I keep hearing buzz about how Dark Sun will be converted to 5E. Is there any concrete truth to this?

I hear it was converted to 4E but I never played 4E. It was one of my favorite 2nd Edition settings, though.

How much was it changed for 4th Edition? I know it got an upgrade toward the end of 2E and I never cared for most of the changes -- IIRC a lot of sorcerer kings got killed off.

I also never cared for the 3E "conversions" of Thri-Kreen and Half Giants. Both should be Large creatures, IMO. If that means Half Giants can't be a PC race, so be it.

Anyway, what news of 5E DS?

It would be pretty easy. Most of the classes and sub classes in the PHB are doing the work for you. Psionics obviously would be the biggest problem.

A bard subclass with no spell casting but poison
An elemental cleric sub class
A gladiator fighter subclass
And the mil race
Dragon king pact for warlocks

For the 4e version, timeline-wise they reset it to just after death of king Kalak - they rolled back some of the 2nd ed story changes. However, i have heard nothing to indicate a full 5e setting book - i would expect to see Forgotten Realms long before that.

Ah, that's nice (about the timeline). I think you're right, we'll see FR before DS.

An improvement, but it didn't go far enough back.IMHO The way things were at the start of the original box set are a far better starting point. Maybe I'm alone, but I kinda liked Kalak for as little we got of him. I don't mind if he is set up to fall, but if he's going down, then it better damn well be player characters putting him down.
Word. I like it.
It fits well for a pact option.
