Kanna draws her curved blade, but keeps her distance for now. The bigger folk seemed to have the defiler handled for the moment. Best to let them all forget quiet, small Kanna for the moment until she saw which way this sandstorm was blowing.

"Back off, slave. I'm not doing anything to you, I'm trying to do what I came here for, and that's find out what this place was." Tarsin pushes Kimet off him.

Athletics: 1D20+4 = [1]+4 = 5

Well, he attempts to push her off.

"You didn't come all the way out into the desert to murder me, Kimet. You could have done that before we left and saved us all a lot of trouble. And here there is no audience, no one to applaud your prowess."

Persuasion: 1D20+6 = [6]+6 = 12

Tarsin sighs. "Yes, I cast a spell, one that let me read the ancient language these books are written in. That's what these are, books. They are things educated people use to record their knowledge so people in the future can learn from them. What is this place, Kimet? Do you know? Do you know what lies ahead, what those templars were running from? What clues have you unearthed to help us complete our mission and escape this place? Let me go so I can do my damn job."

GM: Man the dice hate you Texas. Nestor will need to roll to maintain his grapple, I know he never actually rolled to grapple on the first place but I think I'll allow it as Kimet can only really punch you at this point and I kinda like this scene it "feels" dark sun to me. Not entirely sure how to go about persuasion on pcs I guess will or cha save?

Kimet growled and leaned in close to Tarsin. “I haven’t been a slave for many years. And I don’t need an audience to deal with the likes of you.” She slapped the book out of his hand. “Bah! Useless words! You said yourself they’re just fairy tales.” She shoved off of him and stalked away. “You warn us next time you want to do magic, Templar.”

Chick waves a finger at Tarsin and makes some clicking noises which sound a little like "tsk tsk". Then he moves off to hold the torch toward something he finds barely interesting, just to pretend he's not paying attention to anyone.

Once Tarsin's not hovering there, Kanna goes to pick the book up off the floor. What was in this thing to set them upon each other so?

She opens the ancient covers and turns a few pages, looking for pictures. There aren't very many though. Even so, she puts it in her pouch. A reminder perhaps of this strange place, and warning of how old knowledge could be dangerous. Or it could make good kindling later to start a fire. There was a symmetry to the idea of old ideas being made useful now that Kanna rather liked.

The halfling then scanned the rest of the books on the shelf, just the edges of them facing outward, to see if any of them had symbols she knew before leaving this room to the dust and the ravages of time.

Kanna c doesn't recognise anything In particular on the books some of the symbols look like the halfling script but they don't make any sense in the positions they are in.
