Darkvision

If a creature has darkvision, does there have to be 100% darkness for it to work, or can it also function as low-light vision? For example, would darkvision allow them to see on a rainy overcast night with no moon, since there is a trace amount of light? Thanks! :)

Its not like low light vision.

If you have 60' Darkvision, low light-vision, and a lit torch in a cave, you'd be able to see 40 feet normally, and the last 20 feet is dark vision.

If you have 60' Darkvision, NO low light-vision, and a lit torch in a cave, you would be able to see 20 feet normally, and the last 40 feet in dark vision.

And if their was no light, a cloudy, moonless night, in a cave, or what have you. You could see 60 feet.

Just remember, darkvision is black and white only.

What happens if you have Darkvision, but are in complete darkness, and look into a mirror? Do you see yourself? What if you were also a vampire? And invisible?

Gah! Somebody make him stop!!!

Just remember that dv only goes to 60 feet. So in situations where your outdoors under moonlight, lowlight lets you see much better than darkvision.
