Darn it all, he got me

I tried to hold out. I really did.

I didn't like The Phantom Menace. I thought Attack of the Clones was only marginally better. I swore to myself that I wouldn't get sucked in by the hype. I swore that while yes, I would see Revenge of the Sith, I would go in with catfish-low expectations, and no excitement whatsoever.

I promised myself.

Apparently, I lied. :heh:

I don't know what it was. Maybe it was the commercials. Maybe it was the PG-13 rating. Maybe it was the slow but steady number of glowing advanced reviews, including one from Kevin Smith. Maybe it's what I've heard of Williams' new score. Maybe it's just the fact that inside this overweight 31-year-old body, an 8-year-old rabid Star Wars fan still struggles to get out.

But there it is. I am excited. My expectations are rising. And damn it all, May 19th can't get here soon enough.

So I'm just curious. I know I wasn't the only one determined to set the bar low for this movie. Am I the only one who's failed, even though I know better?

(And on a different note, the Imperial March is still a truly impressive piece of music. It doesn't matter what I'm doing, or how deeply I'm involved in it. That sucker comes on in the background, as part of a TV commercial or something, and my attention is riveted.)

I didn't promise myself not to get hyped up about it, but I promised myself to remain spoiler-free, pretty much like I did with Attack of the Clones. Unfortunately, the lure of the Dark Side is strong.

Oh well, we all know how it ends anyway. It's the journey that counts in this movie.

taking a wait and see attitude.

hopefully, a. skywalker will kill jar jar binks in a very brutual fashion to become darth vader.

I always had hopes for Revenge of the Sith ever since Attack of the Clones improved upon its predecessor (both as an action film and as Star Wars).

Everything I've heard about it just makes me anticipate it more.

I don't think it will be the greatest thing, ever . . . but I'm looking forward to having a damn good time.

It was the Kevin Smith reviews that did it for me - that, and the usual tradition my friends have of going to see big movies like this in a group.

No, I'm pretty excited too.

But there's still no way I'm going opening weekend.

I am VERY excited and have been for some time. I never tried to hide the fact that I felt this film would rock and Lucas would not let us down.

And I will be seeing the opening midnight showing! (As I did for Phantom Menace and Attack of the Clones)

I told myself the same thing. I would not get excited about this movie because I did not want to be let down. It worked for Atack of the Clones. Unfortunately as soon as some info came came out about Revenge I got hooked it. :(
