Dash and Shields - OK or not?

Hi Everyone,

A player of mine wishes to take the Dash feat (From Complete Warrior) but also fancies the small spiked shield. Will these work together?

The Dash feat says:

If you are wearing light armor or no armor and carrying a light load your speed is 5 foot faster.

He is wearing light armor and carrying a light load. However, instinct says that the shield mucks things up a little. Can you guys help us out here?

Shields do not affect a character’s speed.

So, no problem.

Yup, the shield would only negate the advantages of the feat if its weight increases his load to medium or higher.
