Daylight Spell and Vampires

Vampires poof to dust? Or is it not real daylight enough?

Correct, if you read the Vampire's template description in the MM it says as much. If you want to kill a vampire via this route you'll need to use either Sunbeam (Drd 7, Sun 7) or Sunburst (Drd 8, Sun 8, Sor/Wiz 8). If the Vampire fails its Reflex save against either of these, it's toast.
