Deadlands d20 In-Character (Turn 1)

Dustin moves as quickly as he can to bodily grab Miller and whirl the man around. "We ain't through talkin' ta you, Miller," he growls, his face flushed with anger. "Now yer gonna speak with us, else ah don't think ah kin stop our gal here from scalpin' ya." He indicates Running Wolf with a nod of his head.

OOC: Dustin will try to grapple Miller and stop him from going anywhere. Of course, this may be subject to initiative.

At the jail...

Initiative rolls, as no one is surprised...

Running Wolf 18+2 = 20
Deputy Miller 9+2 = 11
Dustin 6+5 = 11
Felix 7+2 =9


In one fluid motion, that is almost to quick to follow, Running Wolf put an arrow to her bow and lets fly, and sticking it into the wall a foot or so from the door... attack roll 6 +4 ranged [point blank] = 10; I assumed the better the roll the closer to the door the arrow would be

Deputy Miller lets out a yelp and runs out the front door Deputy Miller's Dex bonus is +2 to he has just a little job on you Dustin... "Just one minute there folks and I will feltch the Sherrif"

Dustin you can make a grapple roll BUT the Deputy will be on the front porch, running in a second...

Felix you can see the Deputy though the window while you are still inside if you would like to do something...

Felix stands back as the commotion begins. He looks around the room trying to spot any clues as to the nature of Deputy Miller.

He moves to the first desk drawers, his cards still fanned out in his hand.

OOC: Felix will try to Search through the desk (how many desks are there?). He doesn't have Search but his Intelligence gives him +3.
 

Letting out a curse in old algonquin, Running Wolf will run to the door to look where the Deputy ran to.

OOC: I would still have a half phase after this, yes?

That does it, Dustin thinks to himself as the Deputy takes flight. This one ain't right. He jumps through the open door, and hurls himself through the air at the fleeing man.

OOC: Karl, I'm going for the grapple check...
 

at the Sheriff's office...

Rushing behind the Deputy as he flees out the front door, Dustin fly at the man with a wild charge...

To start a Grapple is a normal melee attack, Dustin +5 +2 for the charge...
Roll 10+7 = 17
Deputy's AC 12
a Hit!!
Now you make a Hold check, which is an opposed melee attack...
Dustin 13 +7 =20
Deputy 14 +5 = 19
Dustin has grabbed and is holding the Deputy as you both go crashing to the ground just in front of the Sheriff's office.
Dustin you also do damage to the Deputy this round...
1d4+3 (unarmed damage) Roll 1+3 = 4 points of Vitality (if you ever do Wound damage, with Improved Unarmed Combat you have the option of doing Subdual or Lethal damage).
Next round you decide whether you wish to do damage to him or if you wish to go for the "pin" (where you hold your opponent immobile for 1 round


Felix you do a quick look into the desk that the Deputy was sitting at. It is mostly empty with a few wanted posters and a half drunk bottle of whisky. You do note that the desk and the bottle are really dusty, and you guess no one has even open the desk for a couple of weeks...

Getting off the train...

After grabbing his gear, Thomas disembarks from the train and looks around. From where he is standing he easily makes out the Sheriff's office and heads in that direction. He is almost to the front porch when all of a sudden a large man burst out the front door, yelling "Just one minute there folks and I will fetch the Sheriff" Right behind him another large man hits him from the side and they both spill out into the street and land hard onto the dusty road...

Surprise round for you... next phase your Initiative roll is...
