Deadlands & Earthdawn

Thanks for that. I really like minis and I like the paints on some of those, but I haven't the time, patience or will to paint them myself...so are there any pre-painted minis suitable for Deadlands?

Yes, there are a few. Unfortunately, most are acquired from many different sets from many different manufacturers.

Remember, Deadlands isn't just cowboys and Indians (though it's that too); it's also the U. S. Civil War, undead, steam-punk robots, monsters (wendigos, vampires, werewolves, wholly unnatural horrors, etc.), mad science, slick businessmen, and lots of other things.
So you could legitimately be using a couple of Reapper minis, a few pieces from Warhammer 40K, some generic plastic cowboy models, a British Empire red coat, and a D&D minis goblin, and it is all an accurate representation of what is in the scene. So getting minis for a Deadlands game is as crazy and eclectic an exercise as getting minis for a Planescape game, or a time traveling game (which you can also do in Deadlands without having to stretch the setting). No one source will cover all your needs; if you want to use accurate minis then you'll have to put some real effort into locating and acquiring what you need.

Good luck.

Anyone else know where I can get some pre-pained minis that would suit Deadlands?

Also - is there anyone out there playing Deadlands? Has anyone got a story hour thread or wiki or something? I have collected enough $ to purchase the game (as in I actually got my players to chip in this time), but i want some minis too if we have $ left over. Cost of the books seems OK (on the Pinnacle site), I am just worried about shipping.

So anyone got ANYTHING Deadlands to share? :)
(I have searched threads, but haven't come across much other than it being mentioned in other threads, such as 'What are you playing'? type ones).

I'm running Deadlands these days, and honestly, except for really complicated combats, I avoid using minis. The genre really calls for gunfights to move quickly and smoothly, and minis only provide that when the situation would be less comprehensible without them. I am for speed over precision.

I don't currently have a story hour - I've a party with six characters, and even with my few hours every other week, it'd take a lot of time to write it up to appropriate levels of detail and quality.

Plus, I run only twice a month, and we've only had seven sessions - while each one would take a lot of time to write up, there isn't all that much to tell in terms of plot development.

I don't have documentation you can just go and read, no. If you've got questions, though, I'm happy to discuss things.

Thanks Umbran - I noticed you were running Deadlands in another thread ;)

It sounds like you haven't started a written adventure at this stage either. Are you planning on using any of the written adventures for the setting?

Anyone run ''The Flood" campaign? What are these 'setting/campaign' books like?

I also found an old thread about Deadlands making their own prepainted minis, but links went to non-existent site. Did these eventuate?

Have you looked at their free One Sheets? This link is for all their genres, but the preponderance of it is Deadlands.

Savage Worlds One Sheets!

I run the occasional Deadlands. My group likes the change of pace. Its easy to get into (old west) but you have deal with some weirdness. I am running Lovers Quarrel right now. The succubus got 2 PCs to split off, dominated one of them to leave the room. Then sucked both of them dry in succession. All while the rest of the party sat down in the Saloon while it all happened. Mmmm, Savage goodness right there.

You should go to Pinnacle's boards if you want some good Deadlands conversation. They are the nicest and most helpful group of folks I have come across over that thar inner-net. They probably can point you to someone with a campaign write up online.

I only have a bit of Deadlands materials, but most of their settings are Plot Point campaigns. What's a plot point campaign? Read Savage Worlds Plot Points

The joy of Savage Worlds is you can run a lot of different genres. The pain is not having figs for the different genres. I started to do a bit of online gaming. That led me to Maptools (there are a couple of VTT threads right now if you want some choices). I now use VTT for all my gaming, even if everyone is in the room. I can make all the tokens I want with a couple clicks of the mouse (google pics -> token maker on the MT site). Its not the direct answer to your question, but I find that makes the gaming budget stretch more (I can buy more Savage Settings instead of figs)

I've used one small one (the sample in the back of the Marshall's Handbook), because it has a simple "You all meet on a train" way of getting PCs together. I'm expecting to use one of the short adventures that came with the Marshall's Screen as well.

But, I'm avoiding all the big metaplot-related adventures (like The Flood). One of my players knows the original metaplot, so I've ditched it.
