Defenders of Daybreak - campaign questions

Quasqueton

First Post
The Defenders of Daybreak.

Even if you aren't reading their story hour, you probably know that Piratecat's game group is one of the most heralded and inspiring adventuring parties chronicled on the EN World story hour forum. The half-dozen-plus PCs are currently 15-20th level after a decade of playing. They are among the most personally powerful persons in their world, but Piratecat still challenges them with amazing encounters and adventures. I enjoy reading of their weekly game as much as playing in my own.

But because they have such a long and complicated history, I have a difficult time organizing all the players, characters, and adventures in my head. I want someone to chart out who and what was when, so I can get a better understanding of how this wonderful campaign has been built up over 10 years.

Fortunately, some of the players have offered to do this for me and all their fans. A campaign Web site can be written up to answer all our questions. This would be wonderful.

Let's (all us fans, and soon to be fans) collect our questions for the players in this thread. I'll start with my most pressing questions. . .

Exactly how did the PCs come together to form the current roster?

Who of the current PCs were in the original group?

What was the opening session like/about?

For those not in the original group, when did they come in (at/during what levels)?

What characters have changed the most over the years of adventuring? Who has changed the least?

Since I have been reading, Nolin has used the "tree token" twice to kill very large and bad creatures (the dragon most recently, and the necropede a while back). Are these the only two times? How many of these tree tokens does he have?

How difficult is it to create/referee challenges for a party whose power vary by 5 levels (15th to 20th)?

What questions/observations would you like addressed by Piratecat and the players? Post as many questions as you can think of about the Defenders of Daybreak. Questions may concern metagame issues, trivia, timeline clarifications, character developments, special spells, npcs, monsters, or whatever you like. You may be as serious or as silly as you wish.

Ah, another important and sagely thread devoted to that most venerated of topics - Piratecat's story hour! Yay! :D

Of the PCs who are no longer in the party - where are they now? And does the party keep in touch with them? Have any of the ex-PCs become enemies of the party?

Andrew

Oh, now those are tasty ones.

Go on, I'm listening.

I have a few myself:

How many women other than Oania the Dryad, Telay, and Tasha's mom has Nolin actually slept with? I'll settle for knowing whether I need more than one hand to count them or not.

Where is the Forest of Hovering Elm?

What year is it currently in Spira's own timeline? How much time has passed since the beginning of the Defenders of Daybreak in their own world?

What, very briefly, is the summary of the Mage Wars? And how long ago was it?

I'm actually going to move this out of General Discussion, and over to Plots. That way it won't sink down the page as quickly, and it won't bug people who don't read the story hour.

Forward ho!

What was the story of the defenders restarting time?

What's the full story of Alix?

How many party members have died the final death over the years?

What is the deal with that prince that no one can remember? They keep mentioning that, and never investigating, and it's driving me buggy.

the dead, the gone, the modrons, the missing prince

I will comment on my PCs, and Grundo as I am in the proccess of sending Sialia my compiled gaming notes and typed Glimmer's version of Grundo's death recently.
Glimmer is currently serving the(gold) Dragon Tanthos as apprentice in Defiance (formerly Phorm). He hasn't talked to any party members since leaving Rampart.
Valdek is dead, dead, dead.
Grundo was eaten by a dragon outside the Academy of Flamecraft. Not really eaten just sort of munched up a bit. Which was the dragon's downfall as Grundo wore very spiky armor. The dragon died shortly after biting into the dwarven morsle, a spike protruding from it's head.

Why are the Modrons marching early?
A question I recently put to Piratecat. Unfortunately since the PCs do not know I certainly won't say in an open forum.

As soon as someone mentions it to them they forget again.??

*waves* Hi, Aithdim!

These are going to take a while. I'll see what I can do. One I can address up front, though:

My only question:

What the hell kind of name is Raevynn?

I mean, really. C'mon.

I dunno, Kyle. Do you object that it has a "y" in it, Kyle? Or should I say, "Kiyell". :D

Man, I'm a jerk.
