Gaiden-I like the background history of 1 but the mechanical build of 3. Why not combine them?

I think build 3 is too powerful for the personality of 1. Part of the backstory on 1 is that the character has a walled up knot of fear that manifests in a bunch of subtle ways. Build 3 is a total freaking badass: with the stacking rules of 3.0 of keen and I.C., almost every other attack is causing the enemies to become shaken and take Str dmg if they are evil. Someone like that should be scaring the demons, not vice a versa .
