Detect Thoughts and Invisibility

Geez, two dozen posts and the original question hasn't been clearly answered. :rolleyes:

IMO (I ain't the sage, so take this for what it's worth), it depends. (Yeah, I know.) Detect Thoughts does not, in itself, give any location information. But depending in the situation, the surface thoughts of the invisible character may give clues to his location. It's really a DM call on exactly how much information is available from a creature's "surface thoughts".

Sorry, Christian. I didn't mean to derail the thread.

If I were GMing, I'd rule that while the spell doesn't give the location by itself, it might yield other info that could be interpreted to determine the location.

So, the Wizard might catch the surface thought, "I'm going to climb that big tree and sneak attack the wizard from there." Then the Wizard might know to launch a fireball into the tree.
