I've got to say, that in the twenty-five years of gaming that I've done, I have never found a need for the information offered in this product. Sorry, but I'll save my money for something else.

I would think such would be absolutely useless for player classes. As would be the classes in this product. As has been noted, I can't fathom a campaign where such classes would be practical.

And as far as NPCs go, again, do you really need these "classes". Just make them experts and spend the skill points accordingly.

It's really not "brave" to create a product with the sole intention of generating controversy in order to drive sales. As someone who has studied marketing, the cover art and the way in which the press release was written was not intended to present this product as invoking serious conversation. Rather, it was meant to incite emotions, obviously in the hope of garnering publicity. Which is fine, I suppose. But as a gamer I see no practical application of this product, and therefore all the controversy in the world is not reason enough for me to buy it.

Hey, listen, the only way for us to offer valid opinions is to buy the product and then decide for ourselves. Until they've got our money, we're not entitled to discuss whether what we think about this product.

Unless, of course, we go, "Wow, that looks like barrel-scraping in a sad and depressing way. In terms of spending money to make a statement, I'd kind of rather donate money to the that cool SRD site to promote RPGs, or to a pro-life or pro-choice foundation to demonstrate my stance on this issue."

As I pointed out over there....there's nothing in the review that he couldn't have written without actually reading the product. No specifics, just general approval of stuff mentioned in the press release.

Hello there :)

You have to purchase a product before being able to review it there and, indeed I did. Of course, it may appear that I could have simply worked it up from the press release but unlike a lot of people, it seems, I actually read the press release rather than going 'OMGWTFBBQ ABORTION!'

The ban was actually for questioning a moderator and calling attention to another moderator's baiting and poor behaviour, which were reasons why I hardly bothered visiting RPGnet any more in the first place.

IMO the poor conduct there was on the part of the hyenapack, insulting something sight unseen - and apparently without reading the press release - and of the moderators as per usual.

The debate here is a touch more civil and dual-sided.

I started out defending the product simply because people were attacking it without thinking. I did not actually expect it to necessarily be any good, I just failed to see what all the outrage was about. Now I have read the product I consider it to be a good one that does handle the topic maturely. If a product is bad, attack it because it is bad, not because it deals with something contentious or mature. There's a level of hypocrisy in the air when you consider books like Manacle & Coin, Shoah, Book of Vile Darkness, Book of Erotic Fantasy and others that deal with controversial subjects.
