Diablo II: Patch 1.10s (beta 2) released.

Just a FYI for the Diablo II: Lord of Destruction fans out there. Blizzard has released a beta version of their new patch. It is available here.

8/4 update: The second version of the patch is released. Note, if you install this patch, you have a high probability of having your characters stripped of items in the process. Such is the way with beta testing...

If what I've read about the patch is true, my days of Pindleskin runs are over.

Oh well, the patch adds enough new features that I'm still happy about it.

Been playing around with the beta patch for a little bit.
The variants that I have been playing will finally be able to compete with everyone else once the patch hits.

Over on the Battlenet boards, people are complaining about the "players 8" cheat (simulates having 8 people logged in) being tougher. Yup, it is. A lot deadlier, but the XP awards seem to have gone up, too.

Lots of new rune words and Cube recipes. Mmmm.... bright shinies.

I have to say, it's definately much harder, and getting good items is harder than I remember. However, being able to combine runes has really helped, since I can take a stupid weapon (Say, a Bing sz wang) and make it elite... So I'm doing alright, now... Though I'm level 60 and still on nightmare right now!

In 1.09, by level 60-65 I was usually trying to do Mephisto runs on hell!

Sucks that they nerfed the ancients, too.

I would have loved this patch a year ago. While it's a really cool patch, and extremely challenging, I went back to NeverWinter Nights. I am Diablo'ed out.
