Diamond-tipped arrows?

In the real world: No.

In a fantasy game: why not? Sounds cool.
This is exactly my feeling as well. I probably wouldn't bother, though, unless I was DMing a party that had a dedicated archer. In that case, a quiver of diamond-tipped arrows would almost certainly find its way into a treasure hoard at some point. :)

People People!

You don't need diamonds, magic or otherwise, to bypass Armour. The elves created such a method thousands of years ago. All you have to do is make an arrow completely out of wood and it will get past any metal armour made by all the other, inferior races.

Oh.. you can only make these if your an elf.

So says the Complete Book of Elves, which is totally infallible.. cause it was made by elves too.

:p

Real world? No.

Diamond is the hardest known natural substance, and is harder than anything but a couple of exotic materials created in the past 5 years.

However, it has a property called perfect cleavage (insert jokes here) which is due to its crystalline structure. If struck at the proper angle, diamond will cleave into 2 pieces along a perfectly smooth plane (slicker than teflon).

However, in a fantasy world, there's nothing to say that a specially treated diamond couldn't have such properties. Indeed, its very perfection should make it an ideal subject for enchantment. I'd probably use it for an arrow of slaying, if anything.

To replicate armor-piercing, allow your arrows to pierce DR. That, plus an enhancement bonus, is probably sufficient to make them "better".

I suppose for perfect armor piercing, you could allow them to be made as touch attacks, but they had better be some expensive arrows.

Might I instead recommend tungsten carbide or depleted uranium?
