Dice bags from The Gamer's Bag(TM): Now with New Materials!

My dice "bag" is a Tupperware bowl.

I have pitched this idea to other dice bag manufacturers but none have bit.

Make a dice bag that can also double as a bottle cozy. All you really need to do is put a round piece of plastic or somesuch in the bottom. And then sew like a couple of smallish pockets on the outside that will hold a couple of mech pencils and whatnot.

That would be cool, I would buy that.

You know, I think we could actually add a pencil pocket to the Royal bag. Hmmm.....

I only said leather because I didn't think a simple cloth bag would be very tough. I'd hate to have the bag material be the weak link as far as durability goes.

Anybody can just buy leather laces. As long as the bag material is also as tough I would not mind, but leather is probably preferred for bag material as well. Maybe you can offer to brand initials on the leather bags rather than monogram them. Just a thought.

I like the dwarven stones, but I have two comments. One, they are way too small, and two, they are way too expensive. For the same price I can buy at least 4 sets of dice, maybe more. If I want to buy a girlfriend jewelry and she was a gamer, I might consider it, but she would probably appreciate some earrings or a bracelet more.

Our fabric is very good quality. We've made these bags for ourselves for years and we've never had any problems. I've still got the first one we ever made and you can't tell it's four years old.

As I said, we're thinking about making leather as a regular option, especially since we're are very close to the Scarborough Faire Rennaisance Festival and we could sell the bags there. Branding is an interesting idea, but the monogramming would work just as well on the soft leather we'd use. Plus, less chance of severe burns for myself. :D

Add the pockets! That would be sweet, make it sort of a swiss army dice bag.

We'll be able to do them on the Royal bagsand the Mediums (the others are too short), but I think that would be cool.

Do you guys sell chainmail dice bags?

Funny you should mention that. A player in my group DOES make those. What size would you want?

I think the "medicine man" pouch would work better as a regular bag with the strings just tied to a long leather cord. But some bear claws or something like that around the cord as well, and you're in business! :)

We currently have the distinct lack of bear parts :D , but we do put cool beads on the end of the Royal bag drawstrings. We could add beads to the other sizes, if people are interested in that.

So why aren't you putting these out at GenCon again? It's a shame to miss out on such a large audience, but I suppose you'll be better stocked come next year in Indy.

It would be really cool if you guys actually set up to make the bags on-site at the next GenCon. It would attract more people, and you could even monogram bags people have already bought.

I'll certainly buy one, although I don't know how big of a bag I want around my neck (probably not your biggest), and I would like to see samples of the material itself (or good pictures of it). When you post pics, please offer something next to it as a size comparison, like a quarter.

We didn't really get started doing this full-time until the first of July. I got laid off from WorldCom on June 28th, so my wife and I decided to go for it and get The Gamer's Bag(TM) off the ground. We will do everything possible to be at the next GenCon. We WERE planning on going to this one, but then WorldCrap slit my throat and we still haven't received any severance pay! I love corporate America!:(

Derek will have scans of EVERY material and cord choice we have up in the next couple of days. You'll be able to see exactly what you're getting. He is also going to have a size display just like you're talking about. We will have a Special Order page too where you'll be able to request your extra long cord, or leather cord, or extra long leather cord, etc.....

We can accomodate special orders. Leather is, of course, more expensive than the prices above. We were thinking of offering leather as a regular option if enough people asked for it. Also, would suede be close enough, or would it have to be leather? The leather cord is no problem however.

15 years ago i bought a leather drawstring pouch from a Pueblo indian shop in New Mexico. I was on vacation and that bag served me well as a dicebag for until my son destroyed it a couple of months ago, if you offer leather i'd most likely buy.
