Nope, not here. Wednesday nights is impossible for me. Especially on a holiday. I might get a chance to look at some of the components.

Did the kits really come with a camera?

I did, and blogged about it.

It was quite entertaining for what it was, only an hour and a half, but with running and playing stretched to 3 hours. I wish they would have shipped minis with it, but alas, we got pogs. Nice poster maps for the encounters, and a good quality adventure booklet. Since you only get to play one encounter, I haven't much to say other than it was fun, and I really got to see my shardmind psion in action.

Yes, they sent a lot of promo material, including a nice vinyl poster, a digital camera, and some other goodies.

We had a pretty good week 1 turnout, hope to see it keep the momentum and not fizzle like the Delve Nights did.

Yes, it came with a digital camera, and a 25$ Pizza Hut gift card. Pizza for all.

My game was 5 newbies (3.5 players), myself, and a DM. It was 1 encounter plus RP, and it took about 2.5 hours... mostly because the new players where learning as they went.

Still, a good time was had by all and most everyone is looking forward to next week.

Oh, and the Elf Ranger killed the Drow Warlock. As I said, they are used to 3.5 Realms.

Encounter design was not what I would have gone with. We where in a back alley behind the Yawning Portal Tavern, with a sewer separating us from the NPC Monsters. Only way across was down to the sewer (20 feet deep, 20 feet wide) or across a single 5 foot wide bridge.

There was something of a bottleneck on the bridge that slowed things down, and we didn't have much in the way of ranged options, aside from the warlock (who got off one Eldritch Blast in the whole fight) and RBA's.

That wasn't the only way across. Anyone who could teleport 3+ squares (mostly eladrin, I imagine) could have gotten across as well as anyone brave enough to jump onto the sewer pipe and then from there onto the other side.

Sometimes 4E is about thinking outside the box. After I saw both of our defenders fall into the drink, I wasn't about to chance that bridge.

Perhaps are DM missed that information (he was new as well). We had no checks on the bridge, and sewer pipe appeared to be 20 feet down as well. You are correct that an eladrin could have teleported, but we didn't have on in the party. A windsoul genasi could have flown, as well, but we didn't have one of those either.

That's true. The level of the sewer pipe wasn't clear. Our DM ruled that it was either at the same level or a level below, but gave me an Athletics DC and I made it both times. Go Minitaur Runepriest!

I ran a game at our FLGS. Mostly new players and everyone had a blast. My wife even played her FIRST EVER game of D&D (or any RPG, for that matter) and, in a shock to herself, really enjoyed it.

Most of my party ended up being ranged (archer, wizard, sorcerer, cleric,) with two melee defenders (one got on the bridge to defend, and the other made his way across to tie up the dwarf).


While I was bummed there were no minis, I brought along enough for everyone to choose one that looked like their character.

We (a friend of mine ran a game next to me) also used the 3d tiles to create the walls and sewer, rather than using the map. It made for a much, much, much cooler map.
