Did anyone play Gorgoland's Gauntlet?

I ran it partially a long time ago (just the traps, no monsters, no snooky, no hoardmaster) It was good. The mindsweeper trap took forever, but the rest ran smooth.

Overall, I thought it was a good quest for the three players/side game it was used in.

We liked the Minesweeper puzzle. All of us immediately knew how to solve it and it didn't take any longer than a game of Minesweeper. :)

Addendum: some stories from when we played. :)

The rust monsters - everyone fears rust monsters. Thankfully, my character just happened to be naturally aquatic, so it was a much simpler-than-normal task to hop outside and scavenge up some 'greatclubs' from the forest floor. ;)

The minesweeper puzzle: About halfway through the puzzle, we got tired of keeping track of it, and just started taking running leaps across. ;) Fairly low risk, and much faster.

Those of you who aren't into Minesweeper (or doubt that their players will enjoy it) now have another option to throw at them. Of course, if they don't like word puzzles, either, then maybe "Gorgoldand's Gauntlet" isn't the best adventure to run them through!

In the case of my group, it wasn't so much that they didn't like number puzzles (the stair puzzle kept them entertained). It's just that the moment they twigged that the puzzle was based on minesweeper (IE, the first time they stepped on a tile) it completely ruined their suspension of disbelief.

It occurs to me that I have a relatively new group that hasn't played the adventure at the moment, so I may well have to dig it up and give it a second run through with the word-puzzle in its place.

Richards, thanks for the alternative Puzzle and everyone else for there opinions!

I'm not quite sure which Version I will use (Minesweeper or Wordriddle) but I will write about my Experience with the Adventure after I GM'd it :D

Just one thing ... I will not use DnD but Savage Worlds for this Campaign, so my Experience might vary.

Besides I thought about using a Moral (Alignment) Test instead of Minesweeper. Not for excluding anyone but as a simple check if the Group is evil, selfish or heroic and will give them either a Item for the greedy ones or help from someone rescued or something like that. Any suggestions for this?

P.S.: I think I found a good solution for Incinerated, bored Players ... I will simply send one or two NPC's with them, which they can take over if they "die".

I ran my group through it and they enjoyed it. The mine sweeper once exposed was simple skipped over. The characters figured it out so I didn't drag on about every step.

The Rust monsters were the most fun. Once the players realized what was going on they all undressed/stripped all metal off and climbed over to go around them so at first I had the rust monsters just sniff them for metal then they attacked. Which surprised the mostly weaponless characters. So one player got smart and started tossing coins over to distract the rust monsters.

Later a player asked why did the rust onsters atttack since he had no metal. I told him they had been attack trained by having them attack dummies with metal inside them in puches. So eventually they attacked people thinking they had metal treats inside.
