Did someone declare January "Edition Wars" month?

Hm, I dunno, I don't think it is an invasion. I've been a lurker on these boards since 2002 but have just begun to become an active member fairly recently. I see a lot of folks from other boards such as Dragonsfoot, K&K Alehouse, Delver's Dungeon, etc. posting here. Despite the occasional flareups, I think the cross polination from others boards is only a good thing. I play several editions of the game and Enworld is a pretty active place with interesting discussions on all versions of the game so that's why I like it here. However, we are massing our armies for an old school takeover, HAHAHAHAHEHEHEHE..... oh, did I say that out loud? Um, yeah, go about what you were doing. ;)

Is it just me, or is it a fact: All Edition Wars are fought over/between D&D3 and AD&D1.

Are there ever fights between D&D3 and BD&D? Between D&D3 and AD&D2? Between AD&D1 and AD&D2? Between AD&D1 and BD&D? Between BD&D and OD&D? Between AD&D1 and OD&D?

Why is this?

Because 1st Edition AD&D players are bitter old coots.

.... ;)

No, seriously, I've seen some pretty big arguments between 2nd Edition AD&D players and 3rd Edition D&D players, although most of those were when 3rd Edition 1st came out.

One of my personal favorites, in those skirmishes, was when someone pointed at Whirlwind Attack as, "ZOMG! Look! It's so uberbroken!" and I pointed him to the page in the 1st Edition Oriental Adventures were they drew the feat from.

There's some 2e vs 3e stuff on occasion, but it mostly centers around campaign settings rather than game mechanics per se. BD&D (RC) gets a fair amount of love from some, but whenever BD&D fans try to pick a fight with someone they kinda get their heads-patted and told that they're cute. Actually, what I think happens is most people who respond at all agree that BD&D is a pretty cool system and of all the out of print systems is probably their favorite.

diaglo's the only one who cares much about OD&D. :D
