Because 1st Edition AD&D players are bitter old coots.

.... ;)

No, seriously, I've seen some pretty big arguments between 2nd Edition AD&D players and 3rd Edition D&D players, although most of those were when 3rd Edition 1st came out.
Yeah, well, 2E was such a mess compared to the other versions, pretty much everyone has seem to have given up on that as The One True Edition. :p

And I do see people triumphing OD&D or BD&D over 3E periodically. Honestly, every edition has its good points -- and sometimes, they're even what 3E borrowed from that edition!

Is it just me, or is it a fact: All Edition Wars are fought over/between D&D3 and AD&D1.

Are there ever fights between D&D3 and BD&D? Between D&D3 and AD&D2? Between AD&D1 and AD&D2? Between AD&D1 and BD&D? Between BD&D and OD&D? Between AD&D1 and OD&D?

Why is this?

Quas, quas, quas.

How soon we forget.

You were one of the old hands over on WebRPG back in the day. I still remember then that there was quite a bit of rivalry between the 2e and 3e folks there back then.

Course lately, it seems you are right.

Seriously, discussing the differences between editions of D&D is fun... and there are plenty of debaters on ENworld and Dragonsfoot that are respectful enough of other people's opinions to keep it fun.

As long as the moderators are good, then it's all good.

Cheers!

Heh... when I saw all the trolling (for that's what I consider it to be), I checked over at Dragonsfoot to see if there was an obvious call to arms like the ones Scadgrad and Akrasia used to call when pushing C&C... but I didn't see one.

Well if there was you might never know about it. :) Take a look here:

it seems there is quite an organization behind ORSIC/old school advancement. I’ll post a bit from the above link, while editing out the flames from the information presented.

Well. Where to begin.

Q. Who or what are the Bunker Buddies?

A. … Bunker Buddies are those people with access to hidden areas on certain websites, ...

There are 28 Bunker Buddies in total. Three of them are US attorneys.

The Bunker Buddies collaborate on creating products which they feel are old school. OSRIC is the first of these to see public release, but there will certainly be others before Christmas…..”

(emphasis added)

Although, there seems to have been a decision not to go to ENWorld.

On the Mystara board at Wizards, and the Mystara Mailing List, on occasion there are Edition Warz!- mostly between OD&D and 3E, but I've seen OD&D vs. 2E, 2E vs. 3E. They aren't very heated, as a general rule, but every now and then things get a little dicey.

[EDIT- Rothe, I am almost regretful I clicked on that link you posted. I am really at a loss for words for some of those posts... and posters... but it puts certain recent threads in a different light, that's for sure.]

I have to say, that sort of stuff was eventually what drove me away from MML after being the lone voice championing the Five Shires (as opposed to "make 'em dark and kewl" or the other ideas offered). Even the theoretical Mystara3E list (did they ever get an update document released?) was so deeply hostile to 3E that it was essentially paralyzed. ("Nope, sorry, we have to rewrite every race and class instead of using 3E, otherwise it just won't be Mystara!" )

And forget about daring to say the Karameikos or Glantri boxed sets were any good. Yeesh, you'd think you were advocating the clubbing of baby harp seals.

I better steer clear then, those are two of my favorites from the whole Mystara line.
