Did you buy Dryden or Valley of Frozen Tears? Tell me what you thought about them.

No, really! If you've bought a copy of The Valley of Frozen Tears or Dryden: Hero or Horror, I'd like to know what you though of the book. As it is, I've had dozens of sales, but no comments left.

In fact, the only feedback I've really gotten is from reviewers (a few exceptions come to mind)...

Any opinions? Statements of how I could improve my designs?

It's just kinda hard to produce things you guys like when you're so quiet...

;)

Thanks in advance,

I bought Valley of Frozen Tears the day before Thanksgiving. I happened to be in Lexington Kentucky visiting DH's parents, and so I went to the Rusty Scabbard, which always has a great selection. I recognized the logo on the book from your signature, and snatched it up!

I've only skimmed through it once, but so far it looks really good. I love that you have included all of the maps! The back-story is interesting, and I think it will be easy to plug & play just about anywhere. (Well, anywhere except Freeport, which is where my players are at the moment.)

I really like modular products like this. Sometimes players go haring off in a direction the DM doesn't excpect, so it's nice to have a fully fleshed out location.

Oh, and I love using orcs, so your Blackblood Orcs make me happy. :)

MY GOD!

YOU ACTUALLY BOUGHT A PRINT COPY!

I LOVE YOU!

You're the second person EVER to buy a print copy of my book. Glad you told me, If I'd walked in there and saw a copy missing after all these months, I'd probably have had a heart attack.

ME: Hey, Shafe! Somebody took one of my books!
SHAFE (store clerk): Yah, somebody bought a copy.
ME: No, you don't understand! It's missing!
SHAFE: They bought it, John. It's OK.
ME: What's this 'bought' thing you keep talking about? Where's my book?

That's a curiosity. Why don't the print copies sell very well, when the PDF sells fine...

Yah, Rusty Scabbard is one of my fav hangout's too. Me and Becky drop down there all the time. Since we just moved to winchester, I'm probably only going to get the occasional run to the shop now.

Oh, and Becky get's equal footing for the Blackblood orcs. She helped develop them as much as I did. It's nice to have an impacable enemy you can just hit head-on, ya know?

Anyway, thanks for the input, and glad you enjoyed it! Let me know how your players deal with the Fairy Host... :] You can only get them with it once, really, but it sure it fun!

No, but

I did buy the "The Complete Fool's Catalog" and enjoyed it quite a bit. Unfortunately I've got of backlog of goofy ideas to inflict on my party so this product hasn't been utilized yet.

Although I would guess the first appearance will be of:

The halter top, snake oil or Woo Pace's Can

That was fun to write up. I gotta do another soon. My wife snickered through the entire edit. Or perhaps she was sneering. Either way I got a smirk when she handed back the edit copy.

:heh:

I certainly have not seen a "Complete Fool's Christmas Catalog"?
Seems seasonally appropriate as the other Christmas catalogs roll in.

I downloaded the preview of the Dryden and I'm certainly thinking about picking up a copy. :)

You know, for the underdog using Publisher 97, it's a very impressive layout you've put together.

Aw, you remembered about me using MSP97? Yup, combined with Gimp, Blender 3d, and a cobbled together PDF creation system.

"It's not the tools."
"It's how hard you're willing to BEAT THE *#&$*@ OUT OF THE @!*&@! TOOLS to get them to work the way you want."
"Myself, I use a 10 pount sledge-hammer."

Now that I have them working together so well, I don't have to fight with them much anymore. I would love a slightly smarter layout program. Perhaps soemthing that knows what image transparency is?

And thanks for the comliments on the layout, but with Dryden, part of that credit goes to my artists. Brad McDevitt, for one, made the horrifically beautiful border that frames the page. I just wish I didn't have to block out parts of it in the demo. It's a crime to do that to great art. Combine that with the other art that was provided by Rick Hershey, Brian Laframboise, and Fil Kearney... I'm just happy these people liked my book well enough to design such stunning visuals.

Hmnnn, 1.5 hours longer at work and I can run for the hills. Yay!
