Ouch, Krieg. Your words are daggers that cut into my heart.

I can assure that was not my intent.

Have you no sense of childlike wonder?

I was a cheap SOB as a child, would still have gone after the cheaper more pragmatic choice. Unless the more expensive version was really, really cool...which unfortunately to me this is not.

For the record I pre-ordered a copy of the limited edition a Game of Thrones RPG from GOO, so price alone is not the issue to me.

It's a collector's edition and it's neat.

If you are happy with it then that is the only thing that matters.

How did you pay for it, Merric? The cheapest I've seen it in Brisbane is AUD99.95 and I'm not prepared to pay that (considering I was able to buy Lost Empires of Faerun for only AUD34.95, but that was without the ribbon... ;)).

I already have two copies of the 3.5E PHB and I'm not prepared to throw away good money on another unless I can get it for a good price... and AUD99.95 is not a good price, IMO.

About that, yes. That's not bad for LEoF - I bought Races of the Wild for aus$40 or so.

Cheers!

Nope. I do buy special editions of games that I really like but the D&D PHB just wasn't special enough.
My feelings exactly. Its on my lottery win purchase list (i.e. if I had a few million then I'd buy it, but otherwise I have a PHB and Mongoose Pocket PHB).

No, don't need to get that book, nor the desire, especially when with the money I could buy 2 or 3 other D&D/d20 books... As a collector, having errata and a leatherette (LOL!) cover is not enough justification to spend 75$ in it. However, the fourth edition that will be 3.5 with new artwork and layout for 30$: okay.

The way I figure is that they got my money for the PHB 3.0, then got even more money from me for the PHB 3.5 (not to mention all the PHBs I bought from prior editions). Now they put out another edition with a pretty cover?

It may be a collector's item, but there comes a point where you have to call it quits. With a hefty $75 price tag which essentially only gets me a pretty cover (and a ribbon!), I'm not sure it's worth it.

To each their own, though.
