D&D General Digital D&D Character Sheet

Hi everyone,

I am developing Hero's Diary, a free digital D&D character sheet app for tablets and notebooks (not smartphones). It features a modifier engine, advanced feature tracking (e.g. restore 1 charge on Short Rest and all on Long Rest), a library containing all items and spells from the 2014 and 2024 SRD for quick imports, a compendium for looking up rules, a rich text editor, and much more. Hero's Diary doesn't require an account, as it's 100% free and the character sheet is stored locally in your browser.

If you are interested, give it a try ;)

Just went and played with it - I definitely like the looks of it. Also, so glad it has a dark mode off the bat!

If you don't mind, a few screen shots from a test character (using 2014 rules)...

Thanks for all the nice feedback ^^

If you're using Hero's Diary in a D&D session at some point, don't hesitate to use the app's feedback button. I'm open to any feature requests you might have.

If you're interested in getting updates about the app, you can check out my posts. There's not much there yet, but this will change as I'm just getting started.

@SlyFlourish
Maybe. I've already given it some thought, so it's definitely something I'm looking into, but since I just went public with Hero's Diary a few weeks ago, there are still a few other things I want to focus on first before tackling that. Is there a special reason why you'd want it to be self-hostable or opensource (e.g. offline use)?

No one owes us a free character builder but having one that people could host elsewhere means we'd trust it to last longer than the creator's own interest or financial limitations or any other reason it might get pulled down.

So the big reason I look for self-hosting tools like this is knowing the tool is around to last beyond the will of its maker.

I'm liking it, but I would love a phone interface (small screen vertical orientation) some point down the road.

I don’t plan on taking it offline anytime soon, but I understand the concern. That's a good point. I'll look into it and see how I want to do that. It will probably take a few months until I'm addressing that, but I'll post an update in this thread when it's done.
